Description All folded from square paper (80gsm), with no glue and no cutting. (Only exception is the base, where I used A4 sheets to conserve paper.)

To give an idea of the scale: the sand dunes at the back are about as tall as an A4 sheet is wide; the eggshells are smaller than my baby fingernail. The hatching dragon fits onto my thumbnail.

Designs are all my own.

Firstly I must say that this is a very nice concept for the theme of the contest you have entered.

Composition
The slight off centring of the mother with the eggs and the newest hatchling is a good choice. The other young dragons are a great distance from their mother and positioned giving the impression that they have wandered to the outskirts of the families 'den' and are retuning following their mothers call to meet their younger sibling.
The small flora decorations add a nice detail to the scene without being positioned in a distracting way.

This piece certainly gives the idea that there is more to it. I imagine the area beyond the confines of your piece to be surrounded by sand dunes providing a safe enclosure to the new family.

If I was going to suggest any changes to the composition it would be the expansion of the piece to show more of the scene. or possibly just bring the dunes that are in the piece round slightly more to give the feeling of a diorama rather than an image made from 3d elements. Conclusion
A well constructed and composed piece fitting in well with the theme it was intended for and that leaves a lot of thought provoking images to the viewer.

Thank you! That's what I was aiming for - trying to get away from the 'fierce dragon' image.

That's a really nice scene. I especially like the flowers on the cacti.

Thanks!
The trickiest part of the flowers was their size! The orange flowers are made from concertinas, and the red one from folding the tips and corners of the square base and inflating (if that makes sense).

What a nice scene. Very well folded and composed.

You should really come join the Origami Forum [link] . I'm sure the other members would love to see your works too.

Thanks! This is certainly he biggest thing I've ever attempted, so I was a bit apprehensive.

I have joined the forum - it'll take me a bit to figure out which way's up, but it does look like a great place - so thank you.
