Okay, so Snow White went pretty well...thought i'd try to continue the momentum with Merida. My favorite of the "Disney Princess" set, and -naturally enough- the one whom i've never, ever, EVER, been able to draw up in a fashion that's satisfactory to my personal standards in the long run.
Running with the sort of quasi pin-up look, I thought to i'd do a classic style sketch a-la Snow White, but then realized that that doesn't really suit Merida all that well. Not to mention, although I really love that old school look- the girls all wind up looking awfully...well...similar, too much so. Not sure if I was able to really avoid that, but at the very least I wanted Merida to carry a much more "playfully defiant" look as opposed to the "classically cute" look of Snow White. Something that speaks more to her character really at the end of it all.

And yes, i know, the hair...probably the ultimate reason as to why i've never been really happy with any of my attempts at drawing her...me and the skill of "rendering a mass of curls" has not yet come together.
