Description

Went and saw this a week back, and it was marvelous. A few bits I thought were wasted opportunities, but on the whole a breathtaking, emotional masterpiece. Best thing I’ve experienced from Laika. 9/10

Please go see it if you can.

This is a lovely picture. It really shows the amount of power Kubo possesses and is able to use at the end of the movie. I loved this scene; it was powerful and bittersweet at the same time. This looks awesome!

God that phrase, I want it as an alarm or something. There was something so haunting about it.

Laika is known for making films that are haunting and scary, exception being The Boxtrolls

Ha ha, yeah Boxtrolls had the art direction for dark but not the follow-through for it. Claymation in general has a sort of haunting/ uncanny valley history. Even the Aardman films have a sort of scariness to them. Pretty interesting!

You want unintentionally scary Stop-Motion, watch the early Rankin-Bass Christmas Specials, also Aardman only made one horror movie, and it starred Wallace & Gromit

-laughs- I love those old Christmas specials, but you're very right. Chicken Run from Aardman was also pretty horrific.

-chuckles- Yeah, if nothing else, it's visually stunning. There were so many moments I got chills from it all.
