You know that stage where you just don't care any more? Totally brushing that stage as I submit this now. Took WAY too long to finish due to my epic procrastination skills. It's probably rammed with errors like most of my stuff as well, so have fun with that!

This is my first foray into this new series. Where exactly are they? Why does the place it look the way it does? How are they even there in the first place? These and a whole swathe of other important questions remain unanswered right now.

I know, it's a slow start, but hopefully the characters, their relationships, and the fanon describing this bizarre Internet world will become apparent over time. (If you can't cope without knowing more right now, send me a note with any questions and I'll give you some in-depth explanation…)

I think these guys have a lot of potential and could get up to some very interesting shenanigans. The upcoming comics are planned out and the artwork underway… looking forward to drawing some of those, heheh.

As before, big thanks to , , and for their designs of Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer respectively!

She's Opera, a sort of all-in-one web browser that handles things like E-mail, torrents, IRC, and those sort of things.

JoelDashReed In reply to ??? [2012-09-04 03:08:22 +0000 UTC]

Ok, I read some comments below and I know why Firefox pony is named Kindle, but, Why Opera is Pepsi? I suppose that IE is Ivy for certain plant of the same name... *coughcoughpoisonivycoughcough*

Aside from that and the jokes about Firefox of being on fire... it is good. 8) I like it.

And if we talk about jokes on them... it would be a LONG list, and IE is the loser... XD

SeeNotC In reply to JoelDashReed [2012-09-04 03:23:13 +0000 UTC]

As far as I can tell, Opera is named Pepsi because of her red-and-white color scheme. I think it's a bit uncreative, but at least the comic is funny overall.

HavikM66 In reply to SeeNotC [2012-09-04 03:38:37 +0000 UTC]

But wouldn't the red and white scheme make her name Coke instead since the actual Pepsi color scheme is red, white, and blue?

This is one of the best things to be ponified, EVER.
- The characterizations for each pony so far are exactly what I'd think they be!
- Great dialogue and interactions
- Excellent drawing and style
- HNNNNNG

I have all five browsers installed on my computer, I can ponify all of them!

*head explodes*

thegreyhats In reply to thegreyhats [2012-09-04 04:08:58 +0000 UTC]

Ok, bear with me through the probable mix of what is seen so far and my own head-canon on these ponies, but I'm thinking of these characterizations:

Chromia - Both the smart and popular one; is a natural lead in conversation. Pokes fun sometimes, but in good nature.

Kindle - Has been around the block once or twice, knows her stuff; somewhat 'hard-boiled'. She's open to teach a good thing or two, but can have a... fiery disposition sometimes.

Pepsi - A relative newcomer to browsing, the one that follows day-to-day operations with an instruction manual by her side. A bit naive in more complex situations because of her lack of experience compared to the other four, but generally has a plan.

Ivy - If Kindle has been around the block once or twice, Ivy has been around the block once or twice too many, for both better and worse, though: highly knowledgeable due to her long career and experience as a browser, but somewhat... neurotic, for the same reasons.

Sapphire - Generally reserved, but I can see a Daring-Do-ish, adventurous attitude when the situation calls, with appropriate self-reliance and awareness.

I love how you made Internet Explorer so spastic and unstable, just like the actual product. It is a sign of a good character when their inherent flaws are obvious, yet very, very appealing, and may, in fact, be the reason they are loved in the first place. I enjoy her incredibly "Space Odyssey" intro, and how the others interrupted it for the sake of time. Her incredible proficiency in the English language and her incredibly seriousness that ironically leads to some incredibly zaniness was simply divine.

I enjoy how skills and personalities are translated from the browsers' actual features. The bit of torrents on Opera was a nice fact to know for my own use, and Fire Fox's line about how she has basically seen, well, everything there is that can be seen and never seen made me laugh as I subject my own copy of Fire Fox to similar treatment.

I like how Safari seems to be IE's more sensible serious counterpart. I enjoy her mixture of dry, caustic speech coupled with the casual style of her speech.

I must say, I don't really get why Opera and Chrome are the "punny ponies," and the scene didn't really resonate with me, but I look forward to seeing how this whole thing goes.

If I may make a suggestion, could it be possible that the girls run into Chrome's sister Chromium, and meet up with some of the now defunct browsers? I'd love to see what Netscape is up to.
