Something that I've noticed when sending requests to people to have their art placed in a group gallery:

They cannot find the request message in their message center, and I'm not sure where to tell them to look for it.

We've had a few reports in #devBUG of Correspondence Items being lost from the admins' group folder, but not from members... I would suspect that they have simply deleted the CI from their Message Center, in which case it is no longer accessible.

Thanks. I'll leave my own messages in place until they expire. Then try again or try requesting via regular messages or comments.

Very thorough and helpful guide, thanks for making it! It helped me a lot.

There's one thing I'd like to ask, though, and I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature I just haven't been able to set properly. When I click on the Submit Art button in my group's 'Home' blue bar (or when I do that by clicking my avatar to display the Member//Submit/Suggest etc drop-down menu), I'm automatically redirected to a 'submit new deviation' page. I mean, I don't get the option to submit an existing deviation or contribute a new one (this I only get when directly going inside the group's Gallery).

Is that normal and am I just being blonde? Or is it a bug?

~Is that normal and am I just being blonde? Or is it a bug?
That's normal, that button is really only there as a temporary promotional feature to help introduce users to the new system - mostly for new users who have not visited the group's gallery and don't know about the option to submit existing art. I suspect that blue bar will be removed at some point, or made more exclusive so that people aren't seeing it on every group they visit eventually.

Yzabel In reply to parallellogic [2010-02-02 17:36:43 +0000 UTC]

OK, thanks. But what I don't understand is why said button doesn't behave like it does in the other groups I'm part of. The way it is in mine, you'd think you can *only* submit new art, and not existing deviations. It's more confusin to new members, I think.

parallellogic In reply to Yzabel [2010-02-03 05:24:19 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's confusing to users who are not yet accustomed to the system, I believe they were going for the basic-of-the-basics on the intro bar which included joining and submitting work directly.

Yzabel In reply to parallellogic [2010-02-03 17:17:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh well, thanks for your help anyway. I'll see what I can do about that, and if not, er, I hope my members will read the FAQ about submitting.

I have a question, is there an easier way to add fav's to a group other than 'suggest a fav'? I'm a founder, and I would like to be able to add many deviations at a time

~Is there an easier way to add fav's to a group other than 'suggest a fav'?
Well, it sounds like you are referring to going to the group's fav gallery and suggesting a fav there. There is an alternative method where you visit the deviation and drag the picture into your Collections menu at the top of the page - the folder on the left will give you the option to submit the work to your group's favs (as well as other groups where you have that privilege).

The staff have indicated that they may be looking into revamping the group submission system, although I do not know the specifics or time table for their plans.

Zack-The-Dragon In reply to Destroyer9283 [2010-02-01 23:00:34 +0000 UTC]

Currently there is not; you need to contact the Help Desk if you'd like to deactivate a group.

Not at this time. The staff have not officially confirmed if this feature will be developed, but I can not imagine it being overlooked. For the time being, please refer to #Adopt-a-Group

How do you leave a group?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

parallellogic In reply to AJsCreativeCorner [2010-01-23 03:22:10 +0000 UTC]

It's covered at the end of the 'Members' section above. Under the group's avatar is a drop down where you can select to leave the group. You will also need to un-watch the group if you wish to cut ties all-together.

To upload a new avatar for the group, go to the group's profile page, hover over the avatar at the top left until you see the white editing box around it and then left click to enter into the upload dialog box.
