I just visited my long distance girlfriend for the first time last week, with me leaving during the last day or summer for both of us. We counted the hours we had left right from when I got there. During the car ride to the airport, and we held hands and hugged and stared into each other's eyes during the whole car ride, and then "Wake Me Up When September Ends" came on the radio, with the line "Summer has come and passed", and I just got hit so hard with the opposite side of the feeling this piece gives, I'm just left with that heavy feeling in my gut. This is a really beautiful piece.
