Description
TrashWhen I was in college I worked at this restaurant nearby.
As odd as it sound, Β taking the trash out at the end of the service was always a relief because the kitchen was so hot and it was so cool outside.
Weird subject I know but it actually brings back good memories.
On a different note.. I feel like I just stumbled into a new area of art where all of a sudden I know nothing at all. Does that ever happen to you guys? When you are strolling along with your art and Boom.. you uncover this one little way of doing shapes, painting a cloud, seeing a relationship between space and objects and all of sudden it's like you're a baby and you are relearning art? Is that just me??
Just curious.

You remind me in your description of a hint to budding artists I was told once, to not try to draw the object, but the negative space around it...π

I knew a woman who was a fashion Β designer. She told me that she would tell her husband that wherever she went, she felt like things were "talking" to her: a new way to use color or texture inspired by what buildings you walk past, the color of the sky, anything you could think of. She articulated what I think most of us feel.

Hahaha i worked at a pizzeria when i was in college and when the boss sent me to do something out of the kitchen was my favorite, especially when the tomatoes ran out and i had to go to the groceries store
Yeah that's happening, something like you draw an idea you had and during the process you get in your head, the work just connects with more ideas and you're seeing stuff around the work. I love it when it's finished and later i find something about it that wasn't in the original plan when i was drawing it

Your works are always a treat to find in my watchlist ~ Especially this piece! The composition and lighting brings so much character to this small slice of life from your restaurant days.Β Β
I think it's always fun to experiment with different mediums and styles. It keeps your mind thinking in new ways, never feeling stuck with the rules and styles of your usual work. It creates an enthralling sense of discovery just like you described, which I feel is one of the most exciting parts of being an artist.Β

I know one feeling. It's probably the same. It's when I try something different and suddenly I can't draw anything. Like, I don't know how. Which is ridiculous because yesterday I could do anything. I look at my works, I see what I learned and my brain lazily admits "oh yeah... I can do that. But you wanted something different, didn't you?". I guess, running from stamps we may come to a part of mind where we don't have any bases yet. Gotta choose to carefully continue from the known or to bravely start from a blank sheet. Takes to know how to open your mind better. We have so much experience buried deeper.
