Description Here is a photo of my drawing in progress. Some folks have implied that this is digital work, I've been drawing like this before home computers were even thought of. I am drawing in a tight (messy) area on my desk next to where I work all day ( on computer).
I'm hoping to have this completed sometime tomorrow ( friday).
Other works-in-progress can be found in my scrap[link] gallery

Your brush duster is epic =0 I want one! Is that for the eraser rubbings?

I draw on a piece of glass that I took off the top of a stereo stand...I balance it from my knees to the edge of whatever desk or table I'm using at the time. It works great as it is only a couple inches bigger than the paper I usually use (14 X 17) and the hard surface doesn't get scratched or nicked (no bumps to catch my pencil on).

Hi John, Thank You! It's funny, I got more comments about the messy area I work in than the drawing itself! I do most of my drawings during my lunch hour where I work everyday! All of that crap is on my desk for office use and lunch use. You would laugh if you saw how unprofessional my artists supplies are! I've never had an official drawing desk, I usually use my kitchen table at home and my computer desk at work! It's sad. Thanks for having a look at my work. - PAT

well, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one that doesn't have a drawing table, and doesn't have all the greatest of art tools lol. but nevertheless your work is incredible so keep at it, I can't wait to see some more work, I would like to know some a few things about your art actually, like what do you do to get the really small highlights.

I just use a sharpened eraser...it is usually the final step in the drawing! Here [link] is a short video of how I do that! Thanks again! - PAT

it's really quite frustrating that you always have to draw women scantily clad. I know your talent lies so much more than that. It's degrading and unnecessary and I really hope to see your work go further than this easily accessible stereotype.

pat-mcmichael In reply to eylassie [2009-02-27 12:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Hi Tanya, Please take a closer look at my gallery!!! You will NOT find nudes or inappropriate images of any kind! I take GREAT care in not offending anyone! In fact, I have NEVER in my life, drawn a full nude figure...it's just something I don't think is necessary. I make a strong effort to keep my drawings PG rated...you may notice all the naughty bits are carefully covered or hidden!
I think it's unfortunate that you find beautiful women to be "degrading" and unnecessary...90% of my drawings focus on a womans "FACE" and particularly her EYES...the very things I find to be unique and beautiful in each woman....not the usual standard equipment below!
Thanks for having a look....I appreciate your honesty.

eylassie In reply to pat-mcmichael [2009-03-07 20:11:30 +0000 UTC]

Trust me I have looked at your gallery. I do appreciate that you do keep it PG, but it's little things like drawing Belle from Beauty and the Beast with those breasts and having tee shirts stretched over torses to not even leave anything up to imagination! Some of your drawings are Disney characters for christ sakes!!! I don't think you will ever understand what is degrading and not degrading to a woman because you are not one. You do not know what it is like to be exploited and see men draw things like this of women. I agree that to capture the eyes is one of the most important components in art. I have studied and practiced this and you do this well. I just hope that you take into consideration what I'm saying and I'm sorry that I'm attacking you...it just got to me after awhile.

pat-mcmichael In reply to eylassie [2009-03-08 17:12:59 +0000 UTC]

Again Tanya, I assure you that my intentions are NOT to degrade women but rather CELEBRATE all the beautiful qualities I see in the female of our species! You don't have to look hard around this site to find super offensive content! I am just baffled that anyone would find my friendly drawings to be offensive!
I understand what you are saying and most guys will draw a pair of giant boobs with a small girl attached to them. I take pride that my work doesn't fall into that predictable category!

Well. Like I said...I also eat my lunch at my desk at work. When I draw on my lunch break, I just push all the crap toward the wall to make room! It's a bit sloppy and I'm not proud of it, but it's my only sanctuary to get lost in drawing for an hour.

It's stupid people think your stuff is digitl. lol. You're one of my favorite artists on here because digital art can just be bullshit.

That's blasphemy...people actually implied that this is digital art? Ha, it reminds me of when kids start playing a Xbox360 instead of playing real football outside. In a personal statement I would like to say (as a graphite artist); I feel like I pour more of my heart and soul into producing an image out of graphite and paper. After I'm finished I get this overwhelming feeling of accomplishment. I don't really get that with digital art.

Anyway, keep doing a fantastic job Pat-McMichael!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I hear something like you describe. We have a generation of people who sadly do not remember the days before computers and digital art, think that super detailed art can ONLY be achieved with a computer, and worst of all cannot tell the difference!
Amazing work as always.
