what has made all the difference is
there was never a trail to begin with.
my head is a forest.
it is instant and it is dreamy slow,
moths drifting up into the air;
warm and dry; rabbit warrensΒ
tunneled by synapses, root systems
symbiotic with capillaries,
a breeze pulling through the leaves.
my footsteps set in sound, not sight.
the path less traveled is a city kid concept
for the room-bound, for the never-in-the-sun.
my fingers graze oak tree bark,
dig into soft dirt and explore it.
i am a forest.
no road is no mistake;
this is the escape.
