Description
The scan may not show it well, but I honestly think this is one of my best pieces to date (despite the weird semi-background). I tinkered with levels and all sorts of things in various programs but still can't recapture the rich brightness of the original. Still, this is actually one of the better digital representations of my art.Except the blue of her clothing.
Anywho, enough about scanner woes.
I spaced the white parts on her thighs, for the most part.
By the way, the title has a real meaning to me. This drawing is the last page of the drawing book I have been pecking away at for the last two years. "Hello" refers to the new season, the new school year, and my new drawing book. "Goodbye" refers to the former of each.
Col-Erase colored pencils, Pitt Artist fine point pen, Sakura Pigma Micron size 01, Staedtler Triplus Fineliners, Prismacolor markers, plus minor use of other media for correction.

Thanks. Legs are probably my favorite parts of the body to draw.

This is gorgeous! I actually really like the way the background breaks out of the frame; it's more interesting that way. I agree that the anatomy on this looks fantastic. ^^ And I'm looking, but I can't figure out what you added in, so you must have covered it up well.
I really do think this is your best so far. It's good to have you back. Best of luck with the new school year!

Thanks a ton. I really appreciate what you have said.
I'm glad my corrected mistake isn't obvious.

Nice one, Peach! I have always liked your Chaka character. Your work with markers is looking quite solid and vibrant in this. The use of a complimentary color-scheme (blue and orange) in this piece is nice.
I'm sure you're already aware of this particular anatomy issue, and hope you don't mind me pointing this out. Her hips are rather narrow relative to her shoulders for a female form. Her torso would look better balanced if her hips were at least as wide as her shoulders. Otherwise, I always enjoy your drawings of this character. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for saying that.
I kept sketching and re-sketching the torso, knowing it looked wrong somehow but unsure of why. Her hips look so disproportionately narrow to me now that it has been pointed out, but I honestly couldn't see it before. If I haven't specifically stated in the description that I'm aware of it already, please tell me when I screw up like that. Because I don't even realize I have done it.

Yes yes yes!
I agree whole heartledly. This is a really nice piece indeed. One of your best definitely. I love the grass. The colors are so smooth and appealing. The way Chaka's tail slips out of the background is also very appealing. Gives it some life I think? I dunno, but that's how it seems to me. Not all white boarders and such. Very nice job, Peach! <3

Gosh. Thanks a ton for the thoughtful comment and fav! I really appreciate that.
I wanted to add some additional depth and appeal by having some of Chaka's parts jutting beyond the frame. And I was also hoping it would help to break up my obviously crooked lines.

I totally agree with you: this is one of your best works to date. The colors are vivid and solid. I love the gradients in the grass and Chaka's pose. As ever, all the little details make for a really lovely pic... the lines in the grass and on the leaves.
The colors are so gorgeous. You should be proud!

Thank you so much, my friend. That's mighty nice of you to say!
I was stunned when I blended dark, warm gray to the earthy red grass under her and it turned a rich purple. My markers never cease to amaze me with their color chemistry.

Mm, purple.
Well, I think it's excellent. It's to the point now where I think you could illustrate for a children's book.

Man I've always adored your marker works. :3 And I completely envy your ability to draw trees. My trees/bushes always look like bushy green afros. :C
Your hair is wonderful. I love seeing the individual strands, something which I also can't seem to pull off. No worries though seeing as I have my own method of doing hair.
As for you slight anatomy issues, I feel the hips should be bigger. On females, I've noticed the hips tend to be just as wide, or wider than the shoulders. Hope my advice helps in some way. ^^

Thank you, Plushii. :3 Especially for the comment on the hips! You're right, her hips do look mighty small now that I look at them again.
Thank you also for the comment on my trees. I feel like I draw either overly-detailed leafy monstrosities (like the foreground) or blobs (like the background) so it's great to hear that it didn't come off as badly as I thought.

Wonderful! Your marker techniques are still so stunning to me. I still need to try them out again, only not on watercolor paper.
How do you deal with bleeding through markers in your precious notebook. ^^

AWWWWW I MISSED THIS CHARACTER!!! And your drawings too
I like this picture a great deal. The way you did the background is nice. Have been tryong to do stuff like this (a not complete background) but it never comes out nice. I don't know how to or where to cut the background to make it look nice. You did it well.
The way you blend the colours is awsome. I'm still practicing with marker, Copics, in my case. I still can't make them change softly from one colour to another.
Anyways...great pic and it's bad that scanner didn't make its job *punch scanner* .

Thank you so much, Psamophis! I really appreciate the in-depth comment and fav. The partial background was hard for me to do, some I'm glad it came out well. I never know where to stop and what to have poking beyond the frame, either. XD
I blend wet-into-wet, kind of like painting, to get soft transitions from one color to another. Keep experimenting with different techniques and different papers.
