Description
Adrian sighed. Train rides really were quite boring. And she didn't know exactly where she was. Yay for being a Scout with a bad sense of direction. She leaned against the window and started sketching in a sketchbook. Her inking brush was on the top of her seat's backing.
The train stopped, and she lurched backwards. Her brush fell to the other side of the seat, and hit something. Adrian flew over to it, her short brown hair waving around. "Oh, I'm sorry!" she wailed.
"Ya damn right better be, you-"
Adrian completely ignored him as she carefully plucked the brush he was holding. "My dearest Penny-how could I ever do this to you?" She carefully hugged it as she apologized and rained complements upon the brush.
Back in his seat, the Blue Scout fumed. She's insane! Talking to her stupid pen like it's a person or something... At least she's an easy target. He tapped her on her shoulder. She looked at him, and gasped.
And burst out laughing. "Sorry, but really-did you have to sit within Penny's range? The whole train's practically empty!"
He snarled at her. "I'm gonna to kill ya even more quickly, ya stupid-"
"Oh, kill me?" Adrian huffed. "Try something new." Her stance changed, much to the Scout's surprise. She moved.
And he's out! The Scout was in a lot of pain, due to the groin shot combo Adrian had pulled.
Adrian smirked. "She was right... Grab, pull, twist, then kick is certainly effective." She sighed and slung her bag across her back. Now... How to get out of here? Adrian turned to pick the door that was blocking her from freedom.
Just as she opened the door, the Scout had recovered. He aimed at her head and clipped her. Adrian grabbed her bag, shoving her sketchbook and her precious Penny into it, before breaking the door down and attempting a run to freedom, if not a Medic.
-----
Adrian fussed with her headset as she raced into the desert. Aaaaand Houston, we have a signal! "Hi! New scout, at the train, other Scout's trying to kill me, help!" She gasped as said other Scout chugged a drink-Bonk! Atomic Punch, probably-and tried to speed up.
He hit her arm with his bat. Pain, pain, pain, pain, PAIN! "Ah, a medic would be much appreciated as well!" Her voice wavered. She downed her own soda, and sprinted.
-----
He chased her to 2fort. Once she reached the bridge, she stopped to catch her breath and dropped her bag. "W-why are you chasing me?" Sweat dripped down her face as she cradled her arm.
The Scout also stopped. "Why should I tell you?" He then swung his bat into her ankle. She fell down as she cried out in pain. He loomed over her as she curled up, arms over her face."Pff. Since you're not going anywhere, I'll tell you. I was sent to-hey!"
A slice of red was revealed as he tumbled down onto the ground. The red spy uncloaked. "Blu, get out." Adrian gasped at her savior.
"Or else... what?" was his reply.
The spy-female?-smirked. "Or else..." She leaned into his face. "You get to meet the sharp side of this knife."
He scoffed. "Get back in the kitchen, woman."
Her tone was smooth and cold. "You will regret that comment." She stepped back as she moved her forearm.
Apparently, that was the signal for a Sniper. The Scout hissed as a red spot was revealed on his chest. "Fine, fine. I'll leave." He sighed as he turned to face his base. He began running across the bridge. Under his breath, he muttered, "Damn bitch. I bet she's scre-"
Fem-Spy threw a knife at him. It missed-she hadn't predicted him dodging to the left. He smirked cockily at her as he picked it up. She seemed to glare at him through her sunglasses.
"Damn. The head won't be too pleased about that. At least it was only a level one knife." Fem-Spy turned to the Scout. "What's hurt?"
She was shocked at the Spy's surprisingly caring tone."Right forearm, left ankle, miss."
Fem-Spy sighed, then said, "Careful, this might hurt," as she forced the Scout's arm together, then putting a splint on her. "That looks pretty bad..." Fem-Spy shook her head slightly, then lifted her up over her shoulder, picked up her bag, then sped off to the infirmary.
-----
"Hey, Doc. Got a Scout for you." Adrian hissed. She wasn't a package!
A young Medic looked up at Fem-Spy. "Ve got your message. Spy, put her on bed A-2."
"Hai, hai." she drawled. "You know she's a she, right?"
Adrian glanced at her. Most people mistook her for a boy-that is, until she punched them. Or got them with her bat.
The same Medic looked at the Scout in surprise. "Really? Den bed F-1, bitte."
Fem-Spy carefully put her passenger and bag down. She handed a file to Adrian. "This is intel from the Administrator. It will tell where you'll sleep, eat-kind of like a college introductory folder. Ja ne." She left without a sound.
"T-that's weird. Why didn't she make any noise?" Her voice shook in pain.
The Medic scoffed. "She's not normal-she's a Jap, instead of de usual European Spies dat ve have at de base." He leaned closer to her. "I've heard rumors dat she vos in the yakuza-de Japanese mafia-as well as being a ninja. Ridiculous, isn't it?"
He used his medigun on her arm, then took her bandages off. She hissed in pain as he touched her ankle. "Ach. Dat is bad." He ruffled his dark hair. He then bandaged her ankle and taped an ice pack to it. "Do not mess vith your ankle, scout. Dat means no running."
"Awww..." She drooped as well as she could lying down.
He gave her another once over. "You are free to go." The Medic gave her a pair of crutches.
"Thank you." She took the crutches gratefully, then picked up her bag. The Scout looked at the clock. "What do people usually do during downtime?"
He flinched slightly in surprise. "Vell, Spies and Soldiers have separate meeting rooms. Scouts tend to run all over the base in small groups. Engineers, Snipers, Pyros, Heavies, and Demomen hang around in various places around de base, while Medics..." He shrugged. "Ve are stationed here, vith at least one or two men here at all times. I suggest you go to de rec room."
She shuffled through her folders. "Thanks. What's you name?"
He frowned. "Names... Names are forbidden outside of de base. Be fery, fery careful."
"Ah... Thanks, Doc." She put her hand over her mouth. Did she just say that? She wasn't from the East coast!
He snickered. "You really are turning into one of dem, aren't you?"
She huffed, and left the room. She thusly ran into another Scout.
"You're the new Scout right?" he asked.
"Yeah-what of it?"
"The Fem-Spy... uh..." He shivered. "Asked me to show you to the mess hall. It's almost six."
-----
They arrived at the mess hall within a few minutes. Adrian sighed. She hadn't gotten a chance to dump her bag off at her room, or even check out her new papers. That Scout must've really been scared of Fem-Spy.
