Hmm shows you how long it has been since I have been there. I don't remember the diesel engine being there, now it has been over 20 years since my last visit. Lol.

I hadn't really been since the 90's maybe, but I remember it from then. It used to be side by side with a similar EMD streamliner, either an E or F unit, that was parked over a maintenance pit that you could go down into and see the undercarriage. I remember that one wasn't painted (just rustproof primer); it wasn't there this time, but they seem to have added some early-mid 20th century steam locomotives, and the cab of the big SP cab forward is accessible to the public now.
There's a lot of interesting stuff in Sacramento, unfortunately I was only there for the day this time, and I had things to do in the afternoon.
