Description
do not speaknot another word, now.
refrain from casting
vocal shadows
upon the wall.
let the quiet linger.
caress the darkness
without noise to
fill the expanse.
let your mouth be mute
and your mind be blank.
let the quiet linger.
let the dead lie still
and the widows mourn
while the specters slither
through the cracks
underneath the doors.
let the quiet linger.
while they take you under
into quiet repose;
humming a melody,
a macabre lullaby,
and rocking you to sleep.
let the quiet linger.
hushing you, they say,
not another word now.
we've had enough clamor
for one lifetime
as it is.
let the quiet linger
let the silence reign
now and always.
allow the bedded ghosts
to remain in state
and slumber at long last.

Silence of the grave Peter? Somehow I figured this would be your take on it.

I find some of your poems to be self indulgent or aimless, but I really like this one. It has a lot to it, and so much of it is subtly suggested rather than stated.

Guilty as charged, I suppose, although the reasoning behind my poetry often finds its root in the need to express, explore, and sort through matters in my head to some degree. That possibly qualifies as self-indulgent.
Whatever the matter, I am glad you found something redeeming about this work. Thank you kindly for reading it.

Thank you kindly. I always worry about repetition like this, fearful I overdid it. Glad to know it worked well here.

Must. Fave. Now.
Frighteningly effective, my friend. "...vocal shadows
upon the wall..."

Wow! I love it ^w^ It made me think of vampires: 'we've had enough clamour in this lifetime' and 'a macabre lullaby...rocking you to sleep'.
