with steady shouldersand a broad smile,
you stand tall
taking every impact
unwavering
and without blinking
possessing the courage
of a hundred men.
the strong only wish
they could possess
your strength.
the mighty only wish
they were as mighty
as you are.
your chin held high,
you stare into the eyes
of adversity
and dare
the powers-that-be
to raise their fist
and strike you
one more time.
i stand jealous
and captivated by you
and your tremendous
grace and courage.
