Description hush now, child.
close your eyes and rest.
the world's a better place
than you can begin to imagine.

stay that way, dear daughter.
stay naive to the monsters
in the dark.

the world's your pearl
and you, the princess
wearing the matching ring.
you, the prince
holding the key
to everything his heart desires.

stay that way, dear son.
stay ignorant to the ways
of this fallen world.

in dreams and reverie,
continue to climb those mountains
with the greatest of ease.
continue to achieve
all of the ambitions
tiny souls can foster
in their wild imaginations.

hush now, child.
stay beautiful and innocent.
the world's a scarier place
than i'd like you to realize.

Amazing work once again.I have a 11 month old daughter and i worry about her growing up all the time. They are so fragile and the world lurks just waiting to tear away their innocence. I find being a parent a wonderful yet scary thing.

Lovely words...your work is wonderful. You have captured that feeling every parent has about the wonder and innocence of their children.

Thank you very kindly. Observations born from experience. My own children always did seem to have such wonder and innocence for being of my blood. It gives one some hope for the state of their own soul.

I find I have the desire to release my own thoughts.
The innocent are truly a blessing and relief among the cursed. However one mustn't stay in that state forever. A parent trying to keep their child's innocence...would only be in the wrong. In order for that child to grow and strengthen, they must begin to take on all the corruption and darkness of the world. As be one foe to another they will be able to use the weapons given to them by their loving parents. Depending on how well those parents tought them will set the course for their victory or defeat.
An innocent child must break through all that this life has to curse them with. For once they have done so and only strengthen beyond expectation...they will then be victorious and their souls shall once again be able to return to innocence...with knowledge and wisdom gained as their shield. A great and necessary step in eternal existance.

I agree, as would most parents, I assume. For many (including myself), it is a matter of love, not control. We would never endeavor to keep our children from growing and maturing - from being realized individuals themselves. But the heart of a parent knows the ills of this world and does not want to see their child harmed, unhappy, etc.
Does that make sense?
Unrealistic and unreasonable. But a fond desire just the same.

Indeed it does. It pains greatly to see your child follow a path that you know and have warned them leads to great suffering and even death...in body or spirit. It is, of course, their free will to do so...but in turn you will suffer as you watch them proceed. Your only hope is that they will see the error of their ways and return to the right path..and you.
A truly loving parent never forsakes their child...though the child may indeed believe it to be true at first and despise them for it.

One day you will have a grandchild, and you will get to relive those early parental emoitons again in that little boy or girl. Trust me, I have learned this the most beautiful of ways.

They are almost of that age. I think about that quite a bit.
If the planets come into alignment and I am able to see this transpire, I shall relish it.

I am not certain I would call such a thing a gift. But I am a bit jaded of an immortal.

No you would not. But for those who think they would be happy frozen in time, it could be perceived as such.

Yes, very easy to imagine it as such. Rest assured, like every case of 'the grass is greener on the other side,' it is not all it's cracked up to being.

You're doing remarkably well for one who is running out of things to say.
Do not be hard on yourself or think you must have flowery comments for me, dear. I appreciate the sincere sentiment regardless.

Thank you very much for the warm compliment.

Grow up tomorrow. . . or grow without the ills of this world muddling your innocence. Both are horribly unreasonable, sad to say, but fond desires.
