Description
she captures the sunlightwearing it upon her body
like a coat
a warm, winter coat
impervious to the biting wind
the dismal days laiden
with gray, impenetrable skies
oh how she probably shines today
that ethereal jacket
touching her shoulders,
providing comfort
within its sleeves, she smiles
because the snowflakes
do not chill her bones
the same way they chill mine
oh how she probably shines today
emerald eyes
lifting heavenward
capturing the blessed calm
of rainbows and spring
holding it hostage
while the rains fall
upon the ones who remain exposed
oh how she probably shines today
her lips curling upward
holding onto the morning
leaving me only
the starlight; the moon's glow
night after contemplative night
praying for the sun
she stole from me
oh how she probably shines today
and yet I wouldn't have it
any other way
the sunlight suits her
much more than it suits me
the springtime is hers
the warm days are hers and
the winter snows belong to me
oh how she probably shines today
I wish I could see for myself

Thank you I am glad the poem conveys that sentiment so well. Because, assuredly, it is felt by the poet.

Well. . . alright, perhaps a bit obsessed.
I do miss her terribly, though.

You are welcome. I am generally one who is quite picky and 'turned off' by the lack of capitalization, yet there are instances where it just works all the way around.

I am a bit flighty about capitalization. My impromptu pieces tend to be lowercase for some reason.
Eccentric. Just like the one who pens them.

Hehe - I believe it has a lot to do with how certain individuals think. I am always so fickle about capitalization, even with impromptu pieces.

I am a bit. . . whimsical about it, I guess. I write my journals in the same manner.
There is, undoubtedly, some psychological reason for this.
I fear treading into my psyche, though.

Yeah - it could more than slightly dangerous for anyone to tread too deeply into their unstable psyche.

The play between her in sunlight and him in darkness is so moving. Poor sad Peter.

Poor one-too-many-glasses-of-alcohol Peter. Never permit me alone with a bottle of Scotch again.

Scotch? Good taste, in any case. And damn good poetry, my man.
