Description
Cobra destroyers are among the fastest and smallest Warp-capable warships in the Imperium of Man. Squadrons of Cobras are adept at darting into fleet engagements, launching massive anti-warship torpedoes, and then fleeing before their larger opponents can attack them. Along with its role as a torpedo cutter, the Cobra is also used for scouting, patrolling, raiding, and escort duties.
Besides the Imperial Armada, the Cobra-class destroyer is found in the fleets of the Legiones Astartes. Due to the mobile nature of the Legions, these Cobras are equipped with two interconnected Gellar Fields. Should one fail, the other will continue to protect the ship from the tides of pure cannot-be of the Warp.
In the aftermath of the Great Crusade, most Cobra-class destroyers were replaced by the less crew-intensive Hunter-class destroyers.
