Description

Besides the normal legion vexillum, the 11th legion also uses flags for the legions' various military branches.
Shown here is the branch flag for the Chaplaincy Corps.

Astartes may be superhuman, but they are, at their core, human. They still suffer from mortal failings and the stress of war. The Chaplaincy Corps must help their Battle-Brothers in these times of need. Charismatic and wise, the Chaplains provide guidance and counsel to their brothers off the battlefield and bring righteous fury and unshakable resolve to aspire to on the battlefield.

The social activities and off-duty conduct of Astartes are one of the duties of the Chaplaincy. Most legions have an internal organization for bonding. The Chaplains ensure these organizations stay within Imperial guidelines and do not act as corrupters. Astartes who are corrupted by Warp or Xeno taint is also the duty of the Chaplains, be it overseeing their redemption or leading Euthanizer-Squads to hunt them down.

11th legion has a distinctive-looking chaplaincy. Instead of the black and bone power armor of other Legions, the chaplains of the 11th paint their armor maroon with the bone-colored skull helm of their office. This is perhaps a reference to the brahmins of the Grand West, who wore similar colors and fulfilled a similar spiritual role to the chaplains of the 11th.
