Description
[Phantom]*ahem*, so in case you haven't heard, I SAW LES MISERABLES IN CHICAGO AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!!
Haha, anyway, I loved it and had to doodle something in its honor. This is from the best song in the whole show (in my opinion) The Confrontation, between Javert and Valjean. It's prolly the most powerful song in the show, and I get all swoony listening to the 10th anniversary soundtrack performance of it X3

At this precise moment, I am stunned and exhilarated by the dual portrait-en mise scene- of two of my most admired and obsessed literature and musical characters.
How you capture Javert, he possess such leonine regality and masculinity, and a certain harsh beauty of his looks that originate form the cholerness of his spirit, it is stunning!
What is even more dumb-founding is that your version of Javert bears an uncanny resemblance to my OC Don Ignacio De Cervalles. The flowing ponytial, the tense expression, all are so enthralling!
You cannot even begin to perceive what an obsessed Les Mis freak I be. I have both the 10th anniversary dvd and the Original Cast Highlights, the novel itself, and a PlayBill of the musical a dear friend gave me when she went to see it on Broadway!
And Jean Valjean is also a character I admire the most, his pure soul despite all his flaws, his perseverance and steadfastness and what compassion he has for others and he is such an excellent father to Cosette.
Your depiction of Valjean is astounding as well!

Haha, your eloquent compliments flatter me so much, my friend Thank you so much!
I always loved the complexity of Javert's character and the impact of his epiphany in contrast to Valjean's own epiphany (though, I have only seen the musical so far. I do have the book and am planning on reading it over spring break ^-^)
Someday I hope you get to see the show live in a professional theater. It is truly BREATHTAKING!
What kind of character is your OC, Don Ignacio De Cervalles? Is he similar to Javert?

You are welcome, but I thank you for this resplendent art.
Javert has always been such a strong second to Valjean for being the ultimate favorite Les Mis character.
Javert has this obsession, this driving force to bring Valjean to condemnation. Javert deludes himself that the letter of the law means all, but he fails to perceive that Spirit of the Law supersedes all laws. He realizes this as he ends his life.
I pray too, dear friend, that I am blessed to see it.
The similarities between Javert and Ignacio struck me, as I did not initially perceives this until after Igancio's character was full formed in my mind.
but yes, he does, the harshness, the cold pragmatic persona, the obsession compulsion to pursue, Ignacio is driven to kill Dyusha to avenge the deaths of his son, as in the Battle of Borodino, Dyusha killed Ignacio's two sons.
This journal should explain in summary of how and what Ignacio is:[link]

Ooooooh, great way to put it.
Yea, both character's convictions are so strong, so neither one completely overpowers or shadows the other. A perfect conflict and whatnot
Aw, poor guy. I'll have to read up on him too (once I get back from shopping and class and whatnot )

Thank you.
Valjean is the counterpart to Javert, they represent an archetype of Dualism.
Thank you ever so much, Miss Phantom! I do hope Ignacio will interest you, he is becoming a favorite character to draw. I will post his portrait shortly.

Oh, gosh, this is glorious. They're my favorite characters, especially the man on the right. XD Did Javert really have black hair, cuz that would make my inner Brick-fangirl shriek with glee. If not, it's okay. He's still awesome and sexy.

Oh, thank you very much! ^-^ Lol, I am a Javert fan as well. He has such a complex character AND the best songs in the show (thus he becomes wildly attractive ) and yes, he did indeed have black hair!
although I took some liberties with the bangs, of course
. (I must admit I had to look up the term "brick" as it relates to Les Mis. my next job is to read the book, which I am waiting until spring break to do so I have time X3)

I NEED TO SEE AND READ THIS PLAY. Love the angle, and you can feel the tension and struggle between the two. So the show went well?

YOU SO DO!!!! Especially in a professional theater! I suggest watching the play and then reading the book. Oh the show was INCREDIBLE! There just aren't enough words to describe its epicness. Have you heard the music for the show?
