Designed in Mariton by a team of quantum physicists with assistance from college geniuses, the Interdimensional Gate was a technological wonder. This contraption has the power to generate a portal that could lead into another universe (or multiverse whatever you want to call it...). Two large pieces of equipment are also connected to it. One regulates the power, the other does various things such as oscillations, frequencies, and dimensional coordinates. Before a portal can be activated, dimensional coordinates (I prefer dimensional codes) must be entered. One example of such code is KA-032602.

Unfortunately, the Interdimensional Gate was the cause of some bizarre events that occcurred in Mariton. During a successful test of the Gate, a creature from another universe entered Mariton through the portal and caused havoc (in a strange way). The portal sucked in things like a vacuum. Two young scientists were lost in the portal, their fate unknown... The dimensional code that was entered was "LF-101010". But that event was nothing compared to what happened later... During another test, the equipment around the portal malfunctioned causing the Interdimensional Gate to shoot random portals in different directions and in different places across the city of Mariton. Many creatures and people from different worlds came in through the portal. This infamous event was known as the "Multiverse Crisis". Though the science team managed to shut down the Gate, the damage was already done. The people and creatures that came from other multiverses, still reside in Mariton to this day.

Under the orders of the government, the Interdimensional Gate project was suspended, though many citizens wanted the whole thing shut down entirely. People grew leery of messing around with the fabric of time and space since the crisis. Some had already expressed concern what would happen if this technology fell into the wrong hands... Others feared that the Gate might bring in something that could be a threat to the entire world... some even wondered if the other multiverses would attempt to find their way into Mariton's world...

The Interdimensional Gate had other names such as "World Hopper", "Cosmic Whirlpool", "Swirly", "Universe Jumper", etc...
