Indeed, I have gone silent here once again. Life has been being, well, itself. My oldest cat, Jaden Yuki, has been dealing with some health issues. To make a lengthy story short, he is getting up there in age and just like the rest of us, things begin to fall apart.

Jaden was scheduled to have surgery for what was believed to be an abscessed tooth. All the signs were there, he just tends to be a turd towards the vet, making examining him rather difficult. A quote of $1,100-$1,400 was given for the procedure. This would wipe out my savings, and I didn't want to deplete it 100%. Not that Jaden isn't worth it, but some kind of emergency fund is needed for my future, for reasons I am not going to get into here. Between my Dad and a generous Twitter follower, I had more then half of the quote, the rest came from my savings.

This piece was started before Jaden went in for his surgery, but briefly stopped due to the anxiety and worry that was eating away at me. The day came, Jaden went in, but his blood work showed that it was unsafe to place him under. His kidneys and liver had some rather rough numbers. The only way to truly find out what is going on, is to take him to a veterinarian in Las Vegas so a full body scan can be done. My pocket book only goes so deep, and I rather not put Jaden through all that. Instead, he has been put on a special diet and is given a supplement twice a day. Jaden turns 17 later this year, believe it or not, we have the same birthday too. I'll never forget the day, when a phone call was received of not only his birth, but four other siblings as well.
