Yeah, I chose the name Zero because it was not only his name in pre-production for Forces, but also because it fits with how he was prior to become Infinite : a mercenary who "zero'd" his enemies, but also a nobody without respect.
And tbh, it's a double edged sword : yes, it allows us to go crazy with headcanon and stories, but it makes the character more hollow and one-note, as he already is.

That is true. And that's cool to hear. I understand your opinion and you probably understand mine. He may just be a flash in the pan, a one time only villian, but he somehow got a huge following, along with Mephiles and Chip. As his name suggests, what ideas we can come up with now, are endless.

Sadly, part of what you said has been the norm since 2012. They're still around due to Nintendo helping them every two years and the devout Sonic fans. Not the ones that take a side on which graphics or era they prefer, the ones that like all Sonic games... Besides a few that are understandably hated. We need to pay some respect to the developers that made our own childhood.

It's a good name, but I'll keep Infinite. It gives a lost, different demeanor for the character. I'm thinking about making a fanfiction of what if he was revived, and I'm using the amnesia card for it. He'll have to be a good guy, though, and I think it's a good thing that they have little to no of a backstory for him.
