Throw in some matte clouds, might ramp up the realism, but yeah I think it looks legit I'm sure someone will hire you eventually

Nice work, kinda agree about floating rocks and chains....problem with working for others is you're never going to get 100% original briefs all the time...in fact the opposite is probably true, especially in films. The trick is to be able to put your own spin and get some enjoyment out of even the most boring cliche of briefs. Any piece you do that you don't enjoy or see the value of isn't going to end up that great.
I kinda see the point that the company was coming from. If they do film concept work, they likely want photoreal or approaching photoreal as this is the way things are going and what directors tend to want more of. Messy or textural brushes is not what they want. Games companies on the other hand have more stylistic freedom, which I think your "style" as it is in this and a few other images in your gallery seems to fit better with. If you want film work it pays to hit deliver exactly in the style they would normally want...so start using photos and delivering photoreal tests. This is all first hand info from conversations I have had with pros in the industry currently working at Weta.. Good luck in the next one...you have clearly have skills...just start applying them for the situation.

Thanks for the guidance! Yes, this is my very first attempt to do film concept, tried my best to make it realistic as I can, it seems they like photoreal as you said, I dont like using photos in my painting for textures or something, I like to paint all by my hands and to be stylized, but I do enjoy those fantasic matte painting, anyway, film industry is not my best choice
Thanks again

No worries. Yeah if you are wanting an in house job at a film concept studio, you'll most likely be doing a lot of photo-mashing, especially for environments just for the sake of speed. It's not necessarily a bad thing...they are just tools after all; but yeah your straight painting skills would definitely deteriorate.

Whoever said that is missing the point - it has atmosphere, style, look and imagination. AND its your style.
They can F**k off!
Probably jealous.

It's a film concept design company, I would say they like more textured more messy brush strokes, my style is too clean to them. Anyway, thanks
