I think the poor girl was having a rest from being harrassed by oversexed males. She was floating asleep outside my kitchen window, but noticed me clicking away, and woke up in a grumpy mood.

The males can get really vicious at times and drown the poor girls!! Especially when there is more then a couple of males in tow of a solitary female

It can be quite harrowing to see, Kelvin. I am surrounded by gangs of males mounting exhausted females. They grab the backs of their necks and hold their heads under the water. I stand on the front of my boat throwing pieces of coal at them, but nature is nature, and as soon as I scare them off, they are back at it. The marina has pathetic little bodies floating around it at this time of year. The first of the chicks are scudding around the boat, so the sexual chauvanism should end fairly shortly.
