Description
Laying in the snow,
Thinking of its life.
It has been a short one.
First to be born,
To feel the sun for the first time.
Then to blossom
And become a flower.
He made all of the others jealous.
Then one day he got picked.
Out of everyone he got picked.
He joined others just like him.
They stood together,
Basking in their radiance.
Then they were taken away.
Wrapped in a noisy blanket,
Taken away in what could only be described as
A casket.
Suddenly light is raining on them.
Before he knows what is going on he is being sniffed,
Prodded, hugged, and otherwise squished.
He sees the soft blanket of snow,
He's glad he's not there.
He is forgotten for a few minutes.
When he and his comrades are once again lifted,
He is scared.
He doesn't know where he is going.
No one seems to know.
They are bouncing towards the snow.
Oh no, he doesn't want to go there.
But he has no choice.
All of a sudden there is a high pitched noise,
They go crashing to the ground.
He is strewn from the group.
As they get up to leave he makes no noise,
He is unconscious.
When they are almost gone he wakes up,
Realizing they are leaving him.
Not being able to feel his limbs he calls out,
But they are to far away to hear.
Surely they will notice?
Surely they would not forget their friend?
The hours go past,
Everything is fading from sight.
A few minutes left.
I will miss you all.
Almost there.
Promise me this won't happen again.
It's getting dark.
I can only say goodbye.
Fin.
Oh to be forgotten and alone,
Only the world can do that to you.
Only the world can fix it.
To bad this wasn't learned in enough time
To save our friend.
