Description Meant to be an encouragement to all of Christian folk to study, read, and reverence the Holy Bible. Reading the Bible doesn't mean you're automatically a better Christian, or that it turns you into one. But when you study and read it, you can learn new things about God, history, etc. Not to mention we are instructed to have reasons for our faith and to defend it (1 Peter 3:15).

Whether you do this by joining a bible study group or simply read a chapter before bed, or any other way, I encourage you to be more knowledgeable in the Word of God.

Peace be with you!

P.S.: A great resource for scientific and historical backgrounds on the Bible is Answers In Genesis (dot) org. They update almost daily and have awesome resources!

Is your faith based on genuine love for God or do you waste your zeal making baseless and debunked arguments against the Catholic Church?  Because your comments are becoming annoying and fruitless.  Like seriously.

Catholicism is a counterfeit false "Christianity" which is why I am waging a one-man war on the Catholics and their false doctrines. It's the cult of idolatry, sexual immorality/perversion, and corruption the same way Islam is the cult of barbarism, polygamy, anti-semitism, etc.

If you find my comments annoying, then go ahead and block me. That'd only prove to me just how un-loving and uncaring Catholics are which is why I am planning to cause a terror attack on the Catholic cathedral one day in the future.

And then there are others who just read it and either twist the ones they find most convenient for them and their personal agendas or use falsely to discredit the Christian faith...

Sadly this is true.

I suppose it's up to people like us to set it straight again.

Oh yes, every time I pick that book up I learn new horrible things from it. If I were to follow God's word 100% I'd be serving time for it or I would've been given the death penalty.

Answers in Genesis? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they the people who are known for their misinformation on science? Are they the same people who are behind the Creation Museum?

I'm not against studing the bible, but I am against creationists who are so wrapped up in their quest to prove that God exists that they forget the whole point of being a Christian - to imitate Christ!

Really, if I'm going to learn about the bible, I'd rather do it with my friends.

Answers in Genesis is actually a very trustworthy group. I was apprehensive to read their stuff at first years ago, but once I read some of their articles, they stuck to me.

Also, they aren't "stuck" on proving God exists. They merely believe creationism is real, and feel that evolution is contradictory to the Bible. They know and understand that Christ is first, and if you read any of their stuff, you will find that they continually praise and show love for God; for them, God comes first. However, they also believe that while creationism is not necessary to be a good Christian, it makes much more sense in a logical and scientific sense. I suggest checking them out before you let outside sources tell you what to think.

I actually made a pro-creationism stamp on my other account, which debunks myths and misconceptions about creationism and creationists. [link]

I've just faved your essay. Just had a quick glance through it and I'll be happy to give it a good read later.

I really don't want to start an argument about Creationism vs Evolutionism, nor do I want to bash creationists (especially since my dad and aunt are both creationists themselves). It's just a waste of time and effort for both sides of the argument.

As a person of simple faith, I like to learn at my own pace. I feel that issues like this make it more complicated than it needs to be.

Look I don't think all Christians should diligently study the bible, but I think before making any claims abot waht it says tha should at least do research.

Honestly although I am christian and will occasionally pick up the bible, I don't consider the bible the absolute word of god because I still feel that over time man has corrupted god's words. it still has some good stories.

If that were true, then I would have a lot of trust issues concerning the scriptures covering the life of Christ.

Well true i'm not saying the bible is inaccurate. But I prefer to also have my own morality to help interpret the bible's meaning ^^

I am an atheist but I think that the Bible is a very interesting book collection. Here in Finland we learn really much about the Bible in the school. It is strange to discuss with the Christians from the other countries because I know much more facts about the Bible even though I am an atheist. I think that all Christian people should study the history of the Bible, like how it is translated into different languages (that explains lot of things) and why there is different books in different versions of the Bible. For example it is amazing that really many people don't know anything about the Biblical apocrypha which is a basic information that you learn from a Finnish school.

I know that in some countries it is illegal to teach about religions in school but I think that knowing really much about different religions and holy books is very important. It helps to understand other people.

I wish all schools allowed religion classes. The we got for religious education was lightly going over major world religions in my 7th grade world history class. XD

But yes, education is what prevents ignorance and misunderstandings.

Biblical hermeneutics, exegesis, and factorial study are VERY important. This article I made is regarding how atheists try to use the bible to argue against it, but it's also important for Christians to understand it too [link]

I'm not religious but I support this. There are a lot of 'holier than thou' christians out there who don't even know the bible as well as I do. I don't know much about the bible, but one of my friend's mom sleeps with her neighbor's husband. One of the 10 commandments if I'm correct is "Do not Covet they neighbor's wife" (Or husband I'd think)

Yeah. Sadly, a lot of "Christians" are not true Christians at all, and only claim to be one for their own selfish reasons. No matter what religion someone claims to follow, it's always frustrating to see that person set a bad examples for the honest believers.

Thanks for the comment, btw.
