Description

The mood in the brightly lit office room was tense after the initial greetings between the guards and Prowl were done. The tactician stood still behind the empty desk looking like being deep in his thoughts, while the prisoner in the middle of them all seemed to have missed several recharging cycles.

“You guards are dismissed. Wait outside,” Prowl stated all of a sudden without moving or giving them more attention than was necessary.

The room echoed the footsteps faintly and with quiet hissing sounds the door opened for the leaving bots, closing right behind the last one exiting, and with a click it locked itself.

“Now…” The black and white bot looked at the stasis-cuffed prisoner standing in front of the desk like he was having one of the worst kinds of problems to be solved.

“I have nothing new to share,” Hexaray said with a raspy voice that sounded like his vocal apparatus had seen better days.

“I know,” Prowl noted uncaringly. “That’s not why I’m here,” he continued, now lifting up his gaze to look at Hexaray. “Your case is otherwise closed and technically you’re free to go.”

The words lingered in the air. There was always a catch and this time it was too obvious. Hexaray just couldn’t put his feelings into proper thoughts while staring down without focus. Had they kept him awake on purpose just for Prowl to try to break him mentally because nothing else had seemed to work? Anything could happen at this point, and there was nothing the former city guard could do. The corrupted higher ups wanted a clean slate, and Hexaray being still alive was a huge trust issue.

Was the Autobot even aware of how many layers of the society were rotten to the core? Probably. Most likely. But it didn’t matter in the end. Hexaray would have to keep his mouth shut about it, or face the consequences; getting offlined for good.

“I need to make an example out of you,” Prowl finally broke the silence. “It has been hard to ignore the noise people are making about you, and if you were to disappear now, it would give a nasty dent to the whole justice system. Do you understand?”

The captive slowly lifted up his tired gaze to meet the piercing blue optics of Prowl’s. There would be demands, obligatory tasks, limitations… “No,” was Hexaray’s answer, and it reflected the bot’s whole exhausted well-being.

“Your attempt to humor me won’t give you any extra points over the matter.” The Autobot let out a sigh. “I’d lock you up for good. But you being not criminally responsible for quite a long list still makes it possible for you to walk free despite my opinion. But that freedom comes under scrutiny if you slip even once.”

Hexaray hadn’t moved since being brought into the room. “Understood.”

Prowl lifted his arm and a holo-panel lit up on it. A push of a button on it was enough for Hexaray’s stasis-cuffs to beep and fall off onto the floor with a clang. “Go, play this hero of the less-fortunate, but beware. The moment you leave this building behind, we are not there to protect you from all the enemies you’ve made.”

A short story, yeeey. Then again, all I do is make short stories, and they are either in form of comics or written. But they're all connected so none of them are separate bubbles.

The original purpose of this story was literally an advanced RP role audition on one Discord server which required my character to interact with a canon one. When this idea popped into my head I went all "...YES!" because damn, do I like IDW1 Prowl. So this was the perfect opportunity to drag him in, and with no other than Hexaray and his messed up life.

Don't ask what design Prowl has. I just mixmastered IDW and TFP designs together.

Tools used: A3 paper, Winsor & Newton Artist's Acrylics (so old they're dying on me lol; ), Games Workshop Citadel Runefang Steel (whatever that really is no idea but it's acrylic silver) Sakura gel pens, and Fabilo black ink pen, water.
