Description The Atlantica, a 5 place Blended Wing and Body Personal Aircraft

Historically BWB’s have proven to be stable and efficient. Starting in 1944 with the Horten Bros. HO-9 in Germany to the modern day stealth B-2, 117B and military remote piloted craft BWB’s are finding many uses. The up to date hang gliders and research for future mega commercial planes also use this versatile configuration. Thanks to the Horten Bros. we have documentation as to the aerodynamics and rigging for high performance hands off stable flight of these craft that date back to the 30’s. New computers and software have just made it easier for us to tailor BWB’s to our present needs and new composites.

All this and more all you have to do is buy the kit and build it yourself. Scared you might crash it, well each one has a All Plane Parachute as standard equipment.

More can be found out at the Wingco website.

it looks both ugly and cute at the same time - it doesn't look like a confortable flyer though!

Yes, it looks like it is.

I dont likev these prototypes. They are too rare, and nobody knows them. (well, nobody except you)

This was a suggestion from a friend who lives in Florida near the place. I'll go a little older next time, felt we needed a newer bird though for a change.

The porthole style windows and insect-like canopy sorta look reminescent of Burt Rutan's designs. But he always makes his craft bright white, so I'm somewhat doubting his hand touched this.

Okay. On a side note, did he actually win the Ansari X-prize yet? Dad mentioned something about it today that he had and I've yet to actually go out and confirm it. Keep thinking he's only completed the first of his three required launches, and should follow up on the second either today or within the week. Anywho, done or not, the man's put a lot of work into making his dream a reality for all of us. I hope he wins.

yep he got it, hit the websit, xprize.com they have somemore info on what is coming up next, The X Prize Cup, that will be a annual competition with different classes and the like. Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me, sorta like being around when Wilbur and Orville took off, there will be alot of progress because of this in the coming years.
