Copyright (c) 2019 Brainy Pixel Productions, LLC. www.brainypixel.com"Within a lagoon with crystal blue waters, there are hundreds of tiny coral islands. The water is so clear that it is very difficult to tell what is above the water line and what is below. Lovely coral, sugar-white sand and lush growth are seen throughout. However, due to the clear water and hidden amongst the coral, sand, and rocks, strange artifacts of unusual technology and mechanism can be seen..."
The setting is about an Earth-like world, but in the very far-flung and slightly fantastical future where robots are the dominant creative, emotional, and inventive force on this planet. These robots, which are of every conceivable kind and description imaginable, have spent many untold centuries iterating themselves, as well as changing the world around them to suit their needs and desires. It is important to understand that in this world, there are no humans at all (they've never existed here), nor any indication of anything a human might have created. Everything we see is either natural or something that could have been created by a "race" of ever-iterating and evolving robots. These robots have evolved to fill every possible niche in the world and then some, however, the place that we'll be visiting is where robots are now sent when they are no longer needed - a seeming tropical island paradise with a dark secret - we'll call it Recycle Island for now.
Recycle Island was not always a massive "junk yard" for disposable robots, however. Many thousands of years ago, the Island was a massive testing facility that was used to test new models of robots of every conceivable kind. The Island itself was initially built by robots as well, but over the long years, most of the robot-built foundations have vanished beneath the rocks, soil, plants and animals that fill the island spaces. In the center of the Island is a massive volcano that dominates the landscape and the sky - there's almost no where on the Island that you can go where this titanic volcano cannot be seen looming in the distance. It is this island which is the center of the Island, both geographically and literally, for the power plants constructed by the original robot creators that thrum in the bowels of the volcano are what power the Island. As one journeys across the Island, there can occasionally been seen artifacts of the Island's past: remnants of Testing Sites that are nearly overgrown or perhaps half buried here or there. No one knows what lies locked within these ancient sites - could it be an entire lost "race" of primitive robots, earlier models from times long-lost, or perhaps dangerous and automated tests and trials that force robots to overcome them before pronouncing them as "approved" or "rejected".
Also, unusually, the origins of the Island also contribute to its unique climate. As the Island's designers needed to emulate all different types of terrain and weather in order to properly test their robotic designs, the Island displays every type of environmental terrain and weather conditions imaginable. Rocky, arid bluffs might be found in one section of the Island, only to be flanked by a murky, dank swamp on one side and a wind-swept glacier on the other. While no rhyme or reason can be seen today to the unusual terrain and weather conditions, none doubt that the Island's designers undoubtedly had a reason for this strangeness.

If I was a robot, I'd want to be based on the coconut crab!

It's a fantastic idea but how do you get around the problem of sea salt corrosion, and without the constant flow of under water tides, stagnant water? I think palm-island Dubai is beginning to suffer from that
