This moment and when he's talking about being too hideous to love....just....really gets me....ugh....I mean in this moment it's right after the elf children (?) scream and run away from him...it's almost as though when he looks back at the camera he knows and is so use to this....as though the two elves running away from him just cements this fact
Honestly makes me want to give him a hug....you have no idea >.<

I didn't feel the full impact of this moment until the second time I watched the movie, knowing then about Bog's self-esteem issues and belief that he's a monster that's too hideous to love. That second time through though, this moment broke my heart. It's such a telling moment how here, even in the midst of his anger and indignation as he's singing a song about how angry and indignant he is, THIS is what lies underneath: heart-break, grief, weariness with carrying this unbearable burden around for all these years. He looks so heart-breakingly tired - he's just EXHAUSTED from believing he's this hideous monster that scares children just by looking at them. He hates himself so much - you can see it in his eyes - and my heart just shatters for this sweet, beautiful man who is so wrapped up in the lies he's been telling himself that he just can't take it any more.
But it makes it all that much more uplifting, joyful, and beautiful to see his excitement and sheer happiness at the end of the movie when Marianne helps him see the lies for exactly what they are. This bug needs all the cuddles he can get! I'd do it for him, but I'm sure Marianne will do a better job of itΒ Β Β Β Β
