Description
This is a customized hybrid version of the shoulder cannon that is used by the Predator hunter in the movie "Predator". It's life size. It has a lot of the flavor of the movie prop, but a lot of customized details that make it stand out from the film version as a unique design on it's own.It was sculpted out of polymer clay and then finished with lots of little detail bits and several layers of paint for that "fresh from the hunt" look.

Mate, you are being recast mercilessly on Facebook, by a talentless recaster trading as "FV Sculpts. busts and costumes". Thought you should know.

Thanks for the heads up! Are they selling the castings? If so, where?

Hi, sorry this is so late, I've been away and only just got the notification. He IS selling, to order, along with a few other recast items (primarily Sideshow Collectibles, but your caster leapt out at me), through his Facebook page, under the name I provided in my first message. A quick search should find the recasting parasite. :/

Thanks!
I've been told that it's one of the best fan-sculpted P-1 Plasma Caster designs out there.
It's been a while since I've cast any, though. The cost of resin and silicone has gone through the roof lately.

"Funding" is one of my favorite words......next to "shpladoinkle" and "thingamabob".
Things can happen when that word is tossed around.
I've been afraid to look and see how much it's gone up this Summer. But, if someone were to cover the costs of resin and silicone, I can see that hunter being armed with a bonafide Plasma Caster.
Just sayin...

I wouldn't know how to properly pronounce that second word! haha
But yes, I agree and grin to that!
Let me know, when you know, and I'd be happy to save some funding for quite an amazing feat such as this!
I would freaking adore the thought of having my very own, handcrafted plasma caster. And for it to be masterfully crafted, well... That just puts the icing on the cake!

Hooray!! Right now I'm finishing up the glove for the left hand... I used the same material that I used for the collar and cut it into 'armor' like pieces and sewed them to a cheap pair of winter gloves that were cut into the right shape and forced onto my latex pred hands... PHEW! lot of work!

All this talk reminds of when I made my first Predator costume, oh, before you were born.(1993)
I used some snug-fitting, beige/yellow sweats, painted with spray paint and acrylic paint for the spots. The armor was mostly neoprene. The mask was my first endeavor in latex rubber and built up layer after layer, rather than doing a mold from a sculpted piece. The gloves were fabric with latex, monster fingertips(Witch, I think).Β I built a bio helmet from a large, plastic flamingo body and shaped to a more credible .
It, too, was quite a project. My hunter was a featured monster at a local Haunt the next year. He would flash his targeting lasers ahead of "victims", the people would turn and be chased down the hall by the Predator. His cannon flashed, too. EPIC fun.
I'll try to find the pictures and e-mail them, if you want to see.

Heh.... No, I was born in 92' I am 21 XD
Hmmm good ideas indeed!
My idea is something similar. There are these tight fitting, full body suits made out of spandex at Halloween stores that come in every color of the rainbow: www.ebay.com/bhp/white-spandexβ¦ (I'm going to cut off the head part though).Β
I am going to make the face/head part from latex, using the cheap little plastic and clawed fingers you can get from Halloween stores as the mandibles, and sculpt around them. The details of the face will be sculpted first, though. For the dreads, (Not sure where I'll connect them yet, maybe the back of the head on the bodysuit), I am going to use Those rubber tubes/hoses that are used in cars, build them up thicker, then sculpt the bead things to go around them.Β
Still working on figuring out the armor... But If I could get the arm pieces and shoulder cannon pieces by working with you, then, well. AH! I'm excited! This project is actually turning into something! I thought I'd just do a couple pieces, then get stuck.. I'm sure I'll be able to easily build the half-chest piece, though begrudgingly, I know I'll have to measure things X__X ahaha, ew, math.
But yes! that sounds BAD-ASS! I'd love to see.

My Yautja pictures coming to your e-mail shortly...
If you can spot a scuba suit at one of your local thrift haunts, you could cut the shoulder and half-chest from that and build up on it. Or, if you can alter it enough to look alien, go for some football shoulder pads cut in half and painted silver.
I like your idea for the mandibles. Very creative!

8O I didn't even... There WAS Β a scuba suit there today!!! I'll go back tomorrow and look at the price on it. That's a great idea, cause I reallyyyyy didn't want to even think about using cardboard or something XD Hmmm Scuba suit+football padserfect. I will go for those things tomorrow indeed!
oooh thank you )) I'll check the email in a bit!

I hope that the scuba suit is still there! Fingers and eyes crossed.
If you go that way, you may not have to do much measuring. Just cut to fit. Then, you can add all kinds of nifty pieces and tubing to it!
You would also get an extra shoulder out of it!! If it is traditional black rubber, more the better. Super glue works great on that kind of neoprene.

I hope so, too! X__X It was right in the front on a mannequinn, though luckily covered in other Halloween things. I stopped in front of it and pondered what I could do with it, but ever too briefly. I was thinking more about the collar and finished the gloves today >.<;;
Will indeed try this. And look for tubing too. *writes unusual shopping list down*
Damn, I only have a tiny bit of super glue left! I also need to get another hot glue gun... (not for these projects, but other, smaller and made of clay ones XD

The very first time that I saw the second Predator(Predator 2) movie, I was blown away when I saw more than 5 Predator Yautjas in one place at one time!!
The excessive language, I could have done without. Throwing the "F" bomb around is only meant for when I hit my had with a hammer accidentally or see a real ghost.
Excellent character creations by Stan Winston and ADI. Too bad some of the plot devices were a little weak.
I did really enjoy the latest one, Predators. They used a lot of the same music and Sound effects from the first movies. Plus, there was an original style Predator in it that paid homage to the first movie.

SilverSirenSongs In reply to Pirkleations [2012-06-22 06:25:47 +0000 UTC]
yeah they did use a lot of cuss's, I mean if anything they would probably say 'Pauk' instead of the human word for it (which is the F bomb) and in fact I don't think a predator would speak ooman just for said oomans benefit, then again he looked like a really young one, maybe a newblood?, -shrugs- it seemed to me the really older looking one was the teacher and the rest (including the dirty mouthed one) were his students he took for a hunt so they could gain experience and more trophy's?, the world may never know that one XD.
As for the newest predator movie I enjoyed it a lot but the newer style of predators kind of made me sigh, I liked the older version (in which they did put in a homage to the older version, thank god) I really liked the style of the Yaut hounds (the hunting dogs), and as soon as the twitchy guy came onto the screen I pointed and said 'He's gonna be a bad guy and probably try and Eat them or something' turns out I was almost right .

-nods- I read fanfictions like a maniac about the alienVSpredator movies and they don't use the berserker from what I've seen, (they may have, and I just haven't read it) I'm very picky about what fanfictions I read, they must be over 20,000 words long and within the first few paragraphs they Must catch my attention XD.
Anyway back on subject, I took one look at them and just shook my head, they may look more B.A (Bad Aft) but they are Fugly, (Frikken Ugly) the one highlight was the Classic pred, then I yowled like a cat who's tails just been stomped on when he got killed -.- lol

Predator is such an underrated franchise. Alien get most of the attention. Predator hasn't been explored as much as it deserves. Atleast it shows that the fans care for predator through fanfiction and artwork.

Since it is so hard to find props like the cannon for a fair price, I ended up making my own bits and pieces. There are a very few primo artists that create and sell decent Predator props. I'm luck to be counted as one of them.
