This is a nice photo, overall. I like the soft lighting; the exposure worked quite well. I am somewhat confused as to why you used such a long focal length. Were these taken in the wild or are these domesticated? It's interesting how the one duck in the middle has his head up above the others, but I would like to have seen this more closely followiing the rule of thirds, meaning you would want that duck's head at the third-way point (both vertically and horizontally).
Also, the depth of field isn't great in this shot. I don't necessarily think that all the ducks need to be in focus, but it would have been nice to have just a little more clarity, at least. It is an adorable shot, overall, though. The subtle lighting is very effective - you may want to consider softening the shot even further. I would think this shot would work well in black and white, but even desaturating it by 50% or so would have a good effect, I think.
Nicely done.

Thanks for the critique. The ducks are semi wild. Farm but free range and don't let people get too close to them. If you got too close they got up and moved so had to keep my distance and didn't have a tripod. The lens also doesn't have an image stabilizer so i'm surprised most turned out at all.
I was there to take pics of alpaca shearing. The ducks were bonus
Totally agree on the rule of thirds thing as well. I could have cropped the photo for that. I probably have one somewhere.
Thanks a bunch for your input

You're welcome - considering the conditions now that you've explained them to me, I think the shot is extraordinary

This is so adorable! I like how the image is so soft. You managed to take a messy scene and turn it into a soft, pleasing picture. I like the head popping up!

OK. You know what? It should be illegal to have such adorable pictures such as these. Are those ducklings or goslings? I forget what baby ducks are called. In any case this just TOO CUTE.
