Description Here's a shot of that moon, closer up.  No continents, but I would very much like some feedback on those lights.

Lighting is really nice and uniform, but personally the lights could be more random in organisation and colour. Could also be a little bit more scarce because it looks kind of like the Wikipedia logo with lights on all the crosses, and I don't generally like wikipedia.
That said, I'm biased. If that was what you were going for, the only thing I can say is that they could be a little less bright.
Hope I could help!

Actually, comments like this help a lot.  I had a hard time using actual satellite imagery for lights, and wanted to develop my own methods for painting them on.  Judging from the comments, I'm on the right track but still have some adjustments that need to be made.  Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback -- it's greatly appreciated!

I like the grid patterns.
Whenever I see planet lights I always get curious about the civilization that made them
and want to peek at the surface!
Hope you'll tell us more!

GOD bless

I tend to leave these pretty open questions, especially in adoptable planets.  That way the person who buys the planet can feel free to add whatever details they like to fit their universe.

That said, I did give the lights a decidedly yellow/orange tint to them, indicating likely sodium lamp usage (Sodium produces the most light for the least amount of electricity ).  They are also laid out on a grid, indicating possible roads or other causeways, so perhaps this is a young(ish) human colony.  Or just another species that discovered the same early forms of power and transportation that we did

Thanks for the comment!

Looks great but as someone else pretty much wrote, you ought to make the lights more erratic. Also I don't really get the feeling of the lights curving along in a spherical manner as the lights are a bit too flat whilst you would expect some sort of curving along the horizon. Keep the good work up!

I mapped it to a sphere, but perhaps some of the curvature was lost in the subsequent manipulations?  Will have to mess around with my technique a bit more.  Thank you for the comment!

Thanks, Sophia!  Still playing around with the placement and perspective of my planets, so I'm glad to hear you liked it

Heyo again. Let's see what I can do to give some form of feedback on those lights to the best of my abilities.

The lights look good overall, like a spiderweb of lights as Goth-Clown said, though I think they could be a bit more dense in some areas and sparse in others, and probably more erratic than...square if you know what I mean. Looking at a map of Earth's lights such as these two links here, there is a general trend that can be seen, and that the lights aren't all evenly spaced out. Rather, they are distributed in such a way in that there are some areas that have more light and some with less lights depending on the population of the area. Also, the lights tend to follow the general shape of the landmass due to cities having to build according to said space, but given the fact that this planet has no continents this is fine. As I always say to people, I'm not the best at giving constructive feedback, especially when it comes to subject matter that I'm not familiar with drawing, but that's what I think could be worked/practiced on some more.

Other than that, looks good. I'll see if I can grab it when I get some money together

Hi there, Ori!  Nice to hear from you again

Thank you for your comment on the lights.  I was trying to emulate the grid-like pattern seen stretching across the U.S. Midwest (seen here ), but you're right -- this really could have used a little more chaos or variability.  I'll try breaking the next one up a bit more, see if it helps.  I have got to find a way to introduce elevation maps to my planet textures; that way, I could delete or remove lights from the "high" places, maybe giving them a more natural feel.

You gave me a lot to think about which, for me, is gold.  Thank you very much!
