Aw, I hope Pluto doesn't blame himself. Some things are out of his control, sniiiiiiff. At least it's nice to see Agent 1 and Agent 2 make their appearances here!

He completely blames himself for what happened. He should have waited, then maybe he could have been there to prevent the kidnapping.

There are many ways that could have been prevented, not just Pluto (which Agent 1 and Agent 2 did not blame him nor point fingers at him that he could have done something differently), even though the ones at fault are the Octarians. TheyΒ are the ones who started all of this.
Cap'n Cuttlefish is the leader and captain of both old and new Squidbeak Splatoon. He should have known better to not allow one agent, much less one who was just recently recruited to head to fight the boss on his own. If he also told Pluto to stay to rest or wait until Plat recover, then maybe he would stick around to help both the captain and Plat out in Octo Valley.
Agent 1 and Agent 2 also could have stick around more to look after their own grandfather. They're also lucky that nothing seriously bad happened to the old captain, or the Octarians could have done worse to him just as they had done to Plat.
We shall see~! I hope that Agent 1 and Agent 2 will help Pluto so his self-guilt or downgrading mindset won't completely overtake him. ;u; Even if it's supposedly his "fault", what he can do is be there more for Plat when they will reunite one day and train harder together to lessen less chances of being ambushed and/or kidnapped.

The past can't be changed, a lesson many have to learn. I like to think Octavio wanted Cuttlefish for himself because of their shared history what the Octarians did to Plat he didn't care for as long as they kept him alive.

Pluto can hope for things to get better if his mind is clear from any distressed emotions. Huh, I actually haven't thought why exactly DJ Octavio kidnapped Cap'n Cuttlefish. Maybe to bait Agent 3 out quickly or tried to spill the vital information out of the captain of New Squidbeak Splatoon while he's holding hostage.
