Description Ben, along with the majority of the Republican candidates have pledged to shut down the V.A. system and dump millions of veterans into the private market health care system with a simple and small government plan of just giving them a savings account based on how long they served. Because we all know you only get hurt in a war after you've been there for a while, right? It's not like you could get shot on your first day fighting in a war zone.. right? Riiight?

You missed the part where he said to put Veterans care under the DOD.

Yeah, that is who would be issuing the savings accounts. The DoD is the one who pays soldiers. He is basically saying "Lets just give them some money then let them fend for themselves."

You also missed the point that the saving accounts should be used to buy health insurance.

See, here is the problem with giving them a check and then letting them fend for themselves. That check might not be enough or it might be too much, it doesn't actually address the problem that particular soldier has. It's like trying to treat someone who has cancer and someone who has a broken toe by giving them matching 7000 dollar checks. 7000 isn't enough to cover cancer treatment and most of the money will just sit there and go to waste in the case of the guy with the broken toe.

When it comes to medical care, one size does not fit all.

Buy health insurance for the person's needs. I now that is to hard for you to understand.

Stop being obtuse. There is no difference in giving a soldier a set amount of cash and a set amount of insurance coverage for that same value. The point is that the republicans want to set a limit on how much we can spend on an injured vet and once that vet runs up his medical bills past that limit, fuck him, let him fend for himself.

At the same time, that set amount will be put into a savings account for some vets who will never need it because if they don't get war related injuries they won't be able to use the pay-out. So if you are a vet and you come home then you get cancer, your government issued pay-out doesn't help you cover the cost of that treatment unless you can prove you got cancer while in battle.

This plan is nothing short of the Republicans taking money away from vets to cover the debt created by the Republicans giving away so many subsidies and tax breaks to corporations. The money has to come from somewhere, they certainly aren't going to raise taxes on the rich to pay for it so they want to steal it from the troops.

I am a vet and I know that VA hospitals suck.  I am stuck with crappy health care because idiots like you are afraid of changing a fucked up system.

What state do you live in that the VA care is so bad? I'll do an investigation for you and see what the problem is.

The second part of your last sentence seems to be the GOP M.O.

Odd that a party that has so many of it's remember rejecting the notion of "Survival of the fittest" in the animal kingdom, have no problem applying it to economics, etc
