wow, I totally missed your comment somehow. I usually try and reply to everyone... sooo.. here goes.

I was pointing out how he lives in a reality bubble where he thinks the rest of the world is like his life. It's why politicians think the poor aren't really that poor in America, because the poorest people they know still have a pretty nice life. He thinks global warming isn't real because one day out of the entire year it snowed and because he thinks what happens in his life reflects what happens in the rest of the world, he assumes it must be colder than normal everywhere else. It is literally inconceivable to him that children go to bed hungry every day in America because it could never happen in his life so he passes legislation to cut food stamps thinking that people don't /really/ need them.

Republicans aren't all evil, they are just ignorant and some of them, stupid, but most of them don't actually set out to hurt people. It is only their bumbling cluelessly through life which does so. We really need to set minimal standards before people can be in congress...
