This is a superb monochrome. Capturing cobwebs on camera requires a high degree of technical skill, and this cobweb was captured beautifully. Blue is gradated radially from a lighter blue in the center to a sensuous, velvety darker blue at the edges. None of these blue shades are trite. Also of high technical and artistic merit is the lighting. Highlights on some of the leaves, with the remaining leaves in a richly dark blueish black, make this photograph stand out among other monochromes. Texture, too, is well executed. Stiff, smooth leaves, a delicate webwork, a rough seedpod all interplay in a composition of pure genius.
