Description     So another page of the Shining Consequence and Crystal's attack is coming to a close. This page was tricky to choreograph so i hope it reads clearly. Here we get to see one last ability from Aqualus, that being one inspired by the anime. The ability to fuze into water and move incredibly fast while doing so. He can also take other characters with him while doing this but he has to make physical contact with them to do so. The body of water also has to be large enough to hold his mass for him to do it. Always thought that was a cool ability and wanted to use it. So yeah on another note, who was that on the phone? Find out soon enough (though there's been a few hints dropped about it, so some of you guys might know).

I don't want to talk to much about future events but all I will say is what happens here matters quite a bit for latter.

Be sure to cast a vote for Tyler's evolution as well cretaceousisle.deviantart.com/…

That was very clever and that was a lucky break. I wasn't sure if Acid Armor would appear in this or not. (Yes, in the anime it was they referred that acid armor is what has the absorbing into water molecules thing ability, check bulbapedia. Personally I feel it's really it's own exclusive ability I fandubbed as Liquid Body. Feel free to use that name if you want.)

Yeah I like that ability for Vaporeon. Seems pretty useful to me.

The potential it has in story and comic development is limited to only what the user is able to come up with for using it.

True, though same could be said about pretty much any power or ability.

Very true indeed. Which is why telling the story is sometimes better than playing it. To be honest...the Pokemon games don't capture the surge and excitement of a true battle (Thank pokken tournament for that taste of it~) which is why I like reading material better of the Pokemon series and the anime. Good bye to turn based system.

I have talked about that before with my comics, my stuff is heavily based on the game mechanics but I do take liberties with it to ensure the fights are enjoyable. My favorite example was when Tyranitar came out, most people said Mewtwo should just pump out Aura Sphere and one shot Tyranitar before it can do anything. In the video games, that make perfect since, one shoting Tyranitar before it could do anything in return would be exactly what the player would want, since that give them an edge in the game. So they would do that. In a story though, it be pretty anti climatic if Tyranitar was taken out before it actually got to do anything. It be like why even bother if Tyranitar wasn't going to accomplish anything? I think of it like this, as a player, your focused on game mechanics and are trying to win the game, so your attention is on that more so than the cinematics. Which makes the game fun to play. However say there's a guy watching you play it. He's not thinking about any of the game mechanics, so the cinematics is what he's focused one. Well all he sees is Mewtwo used psychic, Mewtwo used psychic, etc over and over again. That get really boring, really fast. So for me it's really about understanding your audience. You want to be loyal to the subject matter sure but you also want to present something that is fun to watch, read, etc too.

Exactly. I'm the guy who like's the energetic action of things. I wish for Gamefreak to make a full game based around the concept of a real battle in a normal pokemon game, it would feel more involved in my eyes. Maybe one day we'll get that.

Oh, absolutely. Dissolving/melting/liquefying is an extremely useful ability and one that Tyler, my vaporeon main character, makes use of frequently (for everything from hiding to faking out physical attackers to getting through gratings).

Yeah I like that one from the Animae a lot, lots of things you can do with it. So decided to give it to Aqualus.

I still think my favorite use is going second Terminator and completely ignoring a flurry of slashes. But slipping in and out of places through gratings is a lot of fun too (Tyler's Search follows a wild vaporeon trying to get his family back from the trainers who captured them, so he ends up going through quite a few to sneak into buildings).

As you may be able to tell, I'm rooting for Aqualus here.

Might be able to do that, guess it depends how fast they can liquefy and materialize. The grate one is pretty useful.

That's good, he is one of the protagonists after all.

Polarissb In reply to PM-James [2016-07-17 02:05:00 +0000 UTC]

That's actually something he slowly gets better at over the course of the story. A few days after his evolution Tyler accidentally liquefies while he's practicing underwater (which freaks him out). He gets better at it over time, then later learns how to do it on land. For a long time that's as much as he can do, but he finally learns how to do it fast enough to use when he's attacked (as of chapter 37, this is a pretty recent development).

And the Terminator reference is something like just turning liquid once and waiting until the opponent stops attacking, not doing it over and over again.

Yay, he saved the day! I had a feeling he was gonna do  something like that! Melting into water is very useful for Vaporeon.

I'm also glad Blaze is okay..I hope. ;w;

No problem, most of the eevee/lution characters in my comics are a part of the same family. Nymphia and Aqualus are the only ones that aren't.
