And with that, Solar and Shadow's past comes to an end. Pretty happy how this page came together. This page I think highlights why I chose Sylveon for the role of Nymphia and I do want to take a second to talk about that. Some people have asked why I ship Umbreon and Sylveon in my stories. I don't. It's never been about shipping or anything like that, it has to do with the two characters that fit the role the best and in Nymphia's case, which Pokemon fit the role as well. The reaosn Sylveon was chosen I think can be summed up with the final five panels. I liked the ribbons a lot because they can emphasize emotion and body language the best and Nymphia is a character that will need to show her feelings without necessarily stating them out loud. Facial expressions are one thing but the ribbons opened the door to doing that far more. She starts happy with them flowing around and by the end she is drooping them and confessing.
Shadow was selected over Solar for that role because of his personality. Shadow is supposed to be paranoid about offending people and making a bad impression. There is something I was surprised nobody really asked about in Shining C. Nightmare told Dragonite that he wasn't worried about Shadow because "...Shadow is a coward." I think it may have been written off, like Nightmare is bad so anything he says is untrue, but it's not. Shadow is a coward in a certain way of looking at it. He's not cowardly for say or a coward in the typical since that he is afraid of danger (though he does have some fears relating to that, Green provoked one of those fears in the Rocket Base). He's afraid of confrontation and people having a bad image of him. He's self-conscious and worried about offending people he wants to like him. This has mostly been shown with things like him clamming up when he thinks somebody is mad at him or gets nervous if he thinks he's offended somebody, if they're upset with him, anything like that. Solar is nothing like that, he doesn't give a damn about offending people or if people don't like him. So I thought Shadow fit this particular role better with that in mind. Any way, just wanted to talk about that a bit.

Next time we get into one of the major changes from the original version to this version, that being that Nymphia's past wouldn't be told until this point rather than what the final version of the story, where the story gets told back when Solar catches her with the pokeball. Changed that for two reasons, 1) Shadow already told a back story in the previous pages and thought it be a bit much to tell a second back story right after that one and 2) I think it's better the audience knows why she is the way she is prior to this point. Solarshadow Anniversary Contest Solarshadow has just finished Chapter 2 officially and as promised, I want to run a contest to celebrate it. Specifically, I want to focus on what I had called the big events of that chapter. Significant events of Shining Consequence going on at the time will also be accepted. Goal will be to depict one of these events in some sort of way, be it drawing a picture based on one of these scenes, an alternate ending or reimagining to one of these events, predictions on future things based on one of these, etc. Below is a list of all of the events that qualify and the pages that featured them for quick reference:
