“I’ve asked you many times, and I’ll ask you again,” said Jess sternly, still brushing Nella Khone’s long soles. “What is the Sundae Shoe, and where did it come from?”

“ARRHARHARHARHARHARRR!!!!” Nella was under Jess’s body, the blue-haired lady’s long legs keeping Nella’s in place. “I KEEP TELLIN’ YA HARHAR!! I DON’T HAVE AN ITEM LIKE THAT! I RUN A CLEAN SHIP HARHARHARHAR!!!!”

“Well, not many restaurant employees keep clean by scrubbing their feet with a brush!” Jess kept on scrubbing onto Nella’s soles. Her pale tone was becoming rosier thanks to the bristles getting all around her arches. Jess knew exactly how to tickle effectively, thanks to the many Spanish Pie orders in her past.

“HARHARHARHAR! I BE A VISIONARY! I’M SETTING A TREND FER ME CREW! HARHARHAR! SCRUBBING YER FEET KEEPS THE BARNACLES AWAY!!! HARHARHARHAR!!!”

“How come the feet need the most cleaning if you’re working in shoes all day? Wouldn’t it make more sense to scrub your hands the most if you’re only preparing ice cream treats with those?” Jess scrubbed underneath Nella’s toes some more as she interrogated Nella.

“HARHARHARHARHARHAR!!! I DON’T LIKE FOOT ODOR? HARHARHAR!!! FREQUENT SCRUBBING PREVENTS PEG LEGS? HARHARHARHAR!!!” Nella was giving out all kinds of answers as she tossed and turned around the ground. The force of her fists pounding to the floor was causing something on the shelf next to her to rattle around on top. The interrogation process was getting so loud, neither Nella nor Jess could hear the rattling.

“You’re cracking, Captain,” teased Jess, now scrubbing up and down Nella’s long, soft arches. “You might as well come clean. Clean like your soles! Admit that you took my idea!” Her scrubbing became much more intense.

“HARHARHARHARHAR!!!! I DIDN’T STEAL YER IDEA, YA SCURVY NUTJOB!!! HARHARHARHARHAR!!! NOW LET ME GO SO I CAN RETURN TO MAKING SUNDAE SH-UH, SUNDAES!!! HARHARHARHAR!!! SUNDAES!!!!”

“Hmm…” Jess wasn’t buying it. She scrubbed Nella’s heels in little circles with the wet brush. As the brush swished around, Nella kept on chortling and pounding her body around the ground.

Jess was too focused on tickling Nella’s long feet and toes to notice what had just happened. The force of Nella’s tossing, turning, and pounding caused a large, black pirate hat to fall from the cabinet and onto her face. Nella looked at the hat for a moment, inspecting the skull and cross-spoon design in front and the feather to the side. That feather gave Nella an idea…

It was hard to through her laughter and the tears pouring from her eyes, but Nella noticed an opportunity strike. Jess was so focused on her scrubbing that she wasn’t inspecting what was going on behind her. Carefully, and through her wild laughs, Nella peeled off Jess’s flats. Starting from the heel of the shoes, she slowly lifted them up, exposing Jess’s larger feet little by little. Her large heels were soon exposed, then her long arches, then the soft balls beneath her toestems, then her long digits. Jess still hadn’t noticed. That’s when Nella removed the feather from her hat.

“HARHARHARHAR!!! Mess with Khone, get the skull and crossbones! YARHARR!!!” Nella began dusting her large feather across Jess’s long, soft arches.

“Yaah!” Jess jumped up a bit, stopping her brushing progress. Being so focused on Nella’s feet, she forgot about her own! As she usually did when tickled, Jess held her breath, trying not to laugh hysterically. She was getting distracted by Nella’s skilled feather waving.

Noticing another opportunity, Nella slowly crawled out from Jess’s legs. “Looks like the boot is on the other foot now, argh! Well, figuratively speakin’. Har har!” She waved more rigorously across Jess’s arches, the feather’s plumage lightly dusting Jess’s sensitive soles. “So, you wicked sea beast! Who do yee think yee be?”

“Hngh! Hmhm… I’m Jess Desserts… Nnngg! Owner of The Pie Factory…” She was still trying to combat her urge to laugh, despite Nella’s feathery combat. “I heard about a ‘Sundae Shoe’ HMHMHM!!! From Hannah… NGG!!!”

“THAT BIGMOUTHED BANAN-Uh, I mean she’s telling ya lies!” Nella shifted the feather towards Jess’s heels as she climbed atop Jess’s legs. This time, Nella was on top of Jess, like a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a slice of blueberry pie. “Why did ye invade me ship? Tryin’ to shanghai me secrets?”

“HNNNNGGGGGHH!!!!” The tickling on Jess’s heels was even more intense. Jess’s forehead began to perspire, her eyes twitching from the mess she got herself into. “NOOOO!!! I was trying to save MY secret! HMMM…HMHMHMMM…”

“I told ya, I don’t prepare a meal like that!” Nella dusted Jess’s heels back and forth much faster now, like a maid in a dusty house. “Are ya a spy? Did the health inspector send ya?”

“NOO!!! I came here because I didn’t want HNNGGGGG a visit HMMM!!! From the health inspector!!!” Jess’s cheeks became redder by the second.

“But me concerns ain’t yer’s, Loch Jess!” Nella, growing impatient, feathered beneath Jess’s long toes next. They were scrunching and squirming, but Nella made sure the feather flossed into them, like thread through a needle.

“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!” Jess, no longer able to hold back, exploded with laughter. “HAHAHAHAHA!!! YOUR HAHAHA!!! CONCERNS WILL BE MINE HAHAHAHA IF THE SUNDAE SHOE IS HAHAHAHAHA!!! DISCOVERED!!! WE COULD HAHAHAHA BOTH BE SHUT DOWN!!! AFTER ALL, HEEHEE!!! YOU PIRATED FROM MEEE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!”

“Yer just jealous!” Nella wasn’t holding back now. Her feather frantically flew through Jess’s long, blue toes. “I didn’t pirate anything from you… except yer customers…”

“THAT’S IT!!!” Through her laughter and anger, Jess managed to get her hands out. She began tickling Nella’s feet once more with her long fingers. “ADMIT IT HAHAHAHA!!! YOU HAVE A SUNDAE SHOE!!! HAHAHA!!! MY IDEA!!!!”

“YAAAAHARHARHARHAR!!!” Nella got goosebumps from Jess’s counterattacking tickles. This made her more compelled to tickle Jess’s feet pink. She feverishly waved the feather all around her soles. “YEE JUST BE ENVIOUS!!! HARHARHAR!!! THE PEOPLE WANT ICE CREAM!!!”

“THEY’LL WANT PIE MORE ONCE I CEASE AND DESIST!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!”

“I’LL MAKE YE WALK THE PLANK! HARHARHARHAR!!!”

“I’LL PIE YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FACE ONCE YOU’RE EXPOSED HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!”

Both Jess and Nella were in hysterics, arguing just as loudly as they were laughing. This had to be the most intense tickle fight in all of Sandalwood, and only the baker and the captain could see what was going on. They kept up the fight for several minutes, laughing hard and talking trash.

Meanwhile, another S.S. Soft Serve “crewmate” walked quickly to the Captain’s Quarters. He was small in stature, his hair black, but with minty green highlights. He knocked on the door, unaware of the battle that was going on. The knocking caused Jess and Nella to pause. Feather waving, finger wagging, laughing, and taunting had all ceased. The door soon opened a crack.

“Uh, Captain, The Sundae Shoe room is low on vanill-uhhhh…” Once the door had opened, the minty employee saw Nella on top of Jess, both barefoot and looking exhausted. Feather dust and water from the brush covered their bodies and the ground they were lying on. Their eyes were wide open, like a deer in headlights.

“Chip,” Nella shouted. “Now is not a good time!!”

“Sundae Shoe, eh?” Jess’s smile curled on her face. “A-HA! I knew it!!”
