EDIT! I updated the necklace,hair,nose,eye,and shading a bit to fix up a lot of the issues my critiquers gave me in the comments below <3 Also painted a piece to follow this one, go check it out!Someday I will be queen, but I will always be myself
this started out as a doodle and progressed into a week long painting.
Not only was Garnet devoted to becoming queen, she was also devoted to a certain monkey boy who went missing for months/years before being reunited again.
Garnet watching from her castle balcony, waiting for the moment to see him again.
This piece I tried to paint as realistically as I could, I'm getting there! baby steps
This piece is dedicated to , and My Final Fantasy IX buddies and very good friends

(i looove love love the little doves i made they are both symbolic to the game as Garnet sang around them, and also they are customed designed to look like my favourite ff9 couple <3 )I was also very Devoted to finishing this piece

I must confess, although my favorite part is FF9, my favorite character would be Riku or Yuna of FF10, hard to decide.
Or maybe Eiko from FF9? She's so cute!

I really do enjoy Rikku and Yuna's personalities in FF10. I find they develop over time which is really cool
My only objection though is FFX-2 where their personalities became whiny, needy, weak and over all the stereotypical 'pop idol girls'.

I really like the colours you have chosen to use in this picture. The background compliments the figure of the girl well. The girl herself looks very nice and I like the design and details of her dress. The only thing I noticed is that where her shoulder touches her hair it is a little blurry.

yea i really wanted to incorporate the doves, but when i had them in the bg it just looked too out of place :S sooo i left them as a little almost /symbolic/ doves

shading on the dress is fantastic! the skin on the body is pretty good as well! The left side of the face though needs work. It's kind of muddy and blurry, and I think part of the reason the nose looks off is because it doesnt have a hard outline. Like, it's blurry on the outside of it, so it blends into the background a little, where as her chest and neck have a hard line (not outline, just, its very crisp). The hair looks great, but the light highlights are too much, I think. It's very cartoony / anime - ish, where as the rest of the shot is getting towards realism (yay! keep it up!). The actual hair highlights and hair itself is awesome though. But ya, tone down those light streaks.
Also, the necklace. Dunno if it's suppose to be some magical necklace, but it should be resting on the skin. It's floating, and for something as heavy as that looks, it shouldn't be. And the dress should have those hard lines as well, to really set it apart from the skin.

Yea i think i took away from the realism based on that hair, I'll fix it
also gotta tweak the nose the outline of the dress and eye and a bit of the skin shading i think to call her 100% done.
necklace is a magic one it kinda hangs like that in the game (which is odd because the necklace ends up not having much purpose lol~!) I'll see about tweaking that too.
