Can you imagine the kind of things that build up when you wear black socks, leggings and winter boots in Gibraltar?

I've always wanted to do something decent with Mei. I'm pretty happy with how this one came out. I also played around with a technique for ripping virtual socks in blender. Here's how you do it:

Select the sole of the sock, create a NEW UV Map and unwrap from view. You should have a clear UV map of the foot to work with

Find a source image of some torn nylons or socks, open it in photoshop or gimp. Then select the color range of the skin showing through the rip.

Color the selection in white on a new layer. Then put a black background behind it.

Use that black and white mask to control a transparent shader. Plug the image texture into a UV Map node with the UV map you created earlier.

Result: A similar effect to what you see in this picture.
