If you want an honest opinion I think the before is better.
You've improved in terms of anatomy though, that's great! On may you broke the creature's legs but on Dec you got them right, so that's definitly an improvement - anatomy. The shading and the glowing body parts are also improved. The bubbles too, reflecting light from the background - it's a tiny little exagerated though. a bubble is a esfer and to reflect that much the object, that same object that shows to have the green and blue color should be VERY close to the bubbles therefore being visible. Remember: Closer bigger reflection aka bigger amount of color on the bubble and far shows less color. Also the position of the color tells the viewer where the object is. In some of your bubbles you're saying the object is bellow, ones say it's in front of them even though those same bubbles are over the ones that show that the object is bellow, and you have the ones over the previous show that the object is on top of them - but no object is there.
The May piece shows more efford and detail than the newer piece. The eye shading, it's simple but detailed, on the newer piece is just two colors and a highlight. The fur, easily visible in every part of their body. In the newer version its just on the bother. It is a style but the idea of this meme is to draw again with the same idea, character and detail (and add more as improved), that's why I'm pointing that out.
Overall you have a very cute style and unique characters to die for. I hope you don't get mad about this comment, I just want to help

Though, why I made this meme cos I want to see the difference I made with my old and new style, because I'm searching for a style that is less detailed but more pleasing to look at. I never thought that this meme requires you to "add more detail", thanks for pointing that out
As for the bubbles, I just randomly colored the bubbles without even knowing the concept of "reflection" lol, so I gues I learned something new today :3

((I don't think this meme requires you to add more details. XD Improvement can be different in everyone's eyes. Personally I like the newer one better because as you've said, it's more pleasing to look at. .u. Sometimes it's just better to be able to do both (more detailed = realistic(?) and less detailed = cuter) so that you're prepared for situations that call for it.
