I wanted to do a revised Lu reference but ... I got a bit carried away.xD At first it was just gonna be a simple picture of someone sitting in a tree but I decided to make it Lu to redesign the outfit (the colours and added fur basically... but looks less like Emil now! xD) and then I wanted to practice my background skills... and I just tried a load of effects to make it look prettier.xDLu is my main character of the Sun and Moon Stories RPG that I'm making with my sister . I always wanted a male main character... but Queenie has one of those so I settled for a sort of... male-esque female.xD So Lu is a very masculine girl - tall, well-built and all of the other girls in the village thinks she's kind of hot for the wrong reasons. As in, a hot guy. She's also of semi-noble birth... but the place she was born in... well, they're not exactly fond of "foreigners"; so when her mother married one and she turned out blonde... that didn't go down so well.xD In fact, her mother's relatives kind of scorn her or ignore her existance. You should see her grandfather's face when he sees her... he looks disgusted and then pretends he never saw her.xD But it's not really meant in a tragic way - her parents are happy and Lu could care less what her relatives think - she's kind of brusque and blunt like that anyway.
I really like Lu, though. She's really strong (mentally is what I'm referring to though physically also works) and she's really blunt - I love that about her. Most people that see her say she talks like a "Zakrish". They're a race of lizards in our world...
I think I went too crazy with the effects and sparkles ... but I was just experimenting so I dunno, maybe it was fun to try out.^^
WHY DO I ALWAYS TYPE SOOOO MUCH!?xD Anyhoo, better stop rambling and end here!

Lu seems like a really neat character. But especially in this picture, I adore the background. It looks really good. I especially like the ray of light that comes through the trees, and the way her eyes seem to also go in that direction. Makes me think she must be looking at something interesting

You like her? I'm glad - I've been working on her personality for a while and sometimes getting one you like is hard.
I'm really glad you like the background too! It was really hard to sketch it out and then I just meddled around with some fun effects. To be honest, I was sure it'd look fake and cheesy but I'm glad it doesn't.xD
She probably is! She's the sort of person who's always looking for something interesting!

I also think that working on personalities for your characters is kind of hard at times. I always try to make each one of my characters a little bit different from the others with small mannerisms, or the way they think of something, but sometimes I just step back and get frustrated because they all seem to blend together and become so similar.
Yeah, I thought the background looked great in this picture. It stood out and blended in with your picture at the same time, giving it a nice captivating feel 
So then I hit it close to the mark then! It's nice to know when I can interpret something correctly in someone else's art

That's right. She's the daughter of minor nobility - but she's in the position where she'll never be anything more than that and both her parents are usually so busy with work. So she's often bored.
