This is the final coloured version of the layout I posted here, [link]of one of the illustrations I did for the Big Bible Challenge, [link]
The initial layout was drawn by my friend and partner-in-crime Daryl Peninton, you can see some of his stuff here, [link]
Our process for this project was that Daz supplied the rough layouts, which we would then tweak after client feedback, then I would pencil and ink it, send it back to Daz to do the color flatting, then back to me to do the final color rendering; tones, highlights, textures and effects, which is what you now see here.
Hope you guys like this one, I really appreciate all the nice feedback from the previous ones I've posted, so thanks everyone!

It's not just panels of Jesus' life, but the scenes are blended together. Each isn't just done well, but colored/lit brilliantly. It took a sec to recognize the devil at the bottom but I like his design and Jesus' expression. So glad I found you from the Children of God group.

Thanks! I was definitely going for really creepy and sinister, as he is trying to appear as a creature of beauty, but he can't pull it off, especially in his eyes. It stems from my theory that if a person is truly good or if a person is truly evil, it will show in their eyes.

Yeah, instead of the stereotype of a red satan, I wanted Satan to have an anti-light aura about him, light instead of eminating holy light, he is giving out a hideous light-sucking aura.

WOW this is amazing! How do you get the glowing part like around the city and the angel? That's amazing. What programs did you use or tools? How long did this take you?

Glad you liked it! The piece was hand drawn and inked the good old fashioned way, and colored in Photoshop, which is where I did the glows as well. I usually do the glows by using a combination of airbrush, blur filters and layer settings in photoshop, and just playing with it until I get what I want.
The whole thing took about 5 hours. Just kidding! From layout sketch to finish, it took somewhere around 35 hours ( I'm a slow artist). Thanks for your interest!

I am always interested in the technical side of how other artists do their pieces..how much time, traditional or digital or mix, what tools, what techniques...these things fascinate me. Also, it interests me to know how they think about things...process I suppose is what intrigues me. If I like the final outcome then I want to know how one arrives there. I think it could be because I've only recently been inspired by God to do creative work. It will be interesting to see if He teaches me to eventually be as creative and good an artist as you. That would be pretty awesome. In my case, He has been teaching me a lot of behind the stage sort of things...like for example, consistently making time to practice or not letting doubts get in the way of faith that what He seems to have called me to do is really what He wants, not allowing the secular world to get me down..hard to explain but it's still important to persevering forward to the goals He seems to have for me to do. It's also exciting to look back and see all He is teaching me. Thanks for writing back as I know you must be busy.

That would be cool. I'd love to do the whole bible in comic episodes from start to finish; as far as I know, nobody has done it in the way I would like to see it done; the closest to my own vision has been Rabbi Encounters, the online comic. Have you read those? If not, I recommend it, it's awesome.
