Another disgustingly good piece of work!  I wouldn't want my characters bumping into that... which is why I DM.

I don't mean to be rude or odd but what is your process. Im an arts student that uses primarily photoshop to do my pieces and really am envying the relationship/skill of this piece.

Once the rough draft has been sketched out, I go in with the line work. Afterwards, I go in with the base colors, followed by shading, then highlighting.

For shading, I use a multiply layer, with the following color: R 140, G 127, B 120. Sometimes I use an additional multiply layer for deeper shading; it is rare when I use a third shading layer. Once the shading is, I use Gaussian Blur to do a blending effect before going in with the smudge tool to blur more in key areas (like the individual cists on this piece).

When highlighting, I use an overlay layer with the following color R 243, G 235, B 231. Gaussian blur... smudge tool. Rinse repeat.

I have a very classic comic book style, using black lines to define my images. I've been trying to develop a style where I can ditch the line work, but I have not managed to have that breakthrough yet.

I love this piece. Truly disgusting but almost popping out of my computer with the painting and lighting skills. I absolutely love the line work as well. Between the line work and the color its an even relationship. Neither element is communicating more information than the other.
