Another year of self portraits done!!! I cannot even put into words how absolutely amazing this journey has been! To say that life has caught up with me over the past 5 years would be an understatement! When I started this project I could never have imagined how it would evolve into this incredible documentation of not just my daily activities, but my thoughts, moods, and certainly of my ever changing role of student, single independent young adult, boomerang kid, and now as a very happy wife.
I think everyone imagines their life different, somehow better than what it is, and while I certainly have those urges (oh how I would have loved to move up the career ranks at Disney!), I can visually look back, and see that my life, as told through the lens, has been quite an amazing and wonderful experience so far. I try my best to live my life with no regrets, and so far it seems to be working for me!

What has really surprised me over the past 5 years is how much this has become a personal challenge and goal for myself, to continue to develop both my photography and story telling through my images. Although I have lately been very bad about posting to the internet, I look forward each day to unwinding and just having that moment to myself to reflect on my day. And more times than not over the past year it seems, that time is fleeting and I just have time for a snapshot, hastily taken as I get ready for bed. And then in a few days, when I collect my thoughts and go to edit the past days of photos, I see that frustration in my expressions. But that's what this project has become for me. Not a burden, by any means, but a way of reminding myself what is important, and to remember to take the time to do the things I enjoy in life.

So now the question comes of will I continue? And I think for the next 365 days at least, that answer is yes. I cannot imagine just quitting this project when I feel I have so much more to improve on. I want to improve my photographic technique, and also really want to document life more as it happens, rather than in the past tense. So those are things I hope to do in the next year, and who knows, perhaps this journey will continue to take me for the next 5 years, who knows?
