Milwaukee Zoo - 07/24/2004One of the species of animals I love most in the world, are the bats. In this instance, we have a pair of vampire bats, but pretty much all bats have their appeal and attraction to them. I'd love to have a bat as a pet, but I'm not sure if that's actually allowed or not. But I can still enjoy them from afar.

I also like white-winged vampire bats (Diaemus youngi) but these little guys definitely deserve the "cutest smile" award! X33
Btw, could I use your lovely pictures as models for creating a couple of bat characters? I'd credit you of course ^^
I haven't drawn bats in a while but your pictures really inspired me to get them back to the drawing board. I'm a bit rusty and I figured your pictures would give me a precious help in figuring out their anatomy again.

Hehe. Yeah, I need to get more bat pictures, but it's so hard to do at the zoo, when the enclosures are so dark.
*squeaks* Hyena's eat rats? No way. I've never heard of such a thing. I doubt that hyena's even know what a rat is.

*Still giggling at the way you lept from the pot, he suddenly squeals as he's pounced and driven to the ground beneath the large paws. Squirming a bit, he squeaks out a nervous smile.* Ow. Hey... take it easy. I was only playing around. You don't think I'd really try to hurt you, do you?

Stops with a dumb founded look on hisface.....* ... ... Yea... *smiles big and licks his lips*

*He continued to squirm beneath the weight of the large paws, giving a nervous whimper when he saw you licking your lips.* Aku... come on... it was barely kindling. I was going to put it out before you started to cook. Honest.

*smiles and licks your with his slimey tongue* Hehehe... i don't think you were... *smiles again this time with his tongue hanging from his maw*

*meeps as the wet, slimy tongue licks saliva across his face, causing him to squirm about even more.* That's not true. Why would I want to do anything to you? You look cute in that pot of yours. *His whiskers twitch as he gazes up at the smile, watching the thick drool glisten on your dangling tongue.*

*He smiles around his tongue and then with a quick Burst he wraps his maw around your head and smiles with your head inside his slimey muzzle*Hehe...

*squeaks as his head is engulfed within the slimy, smelly hyena maw. Placing his paws on your lips, he tries to pull his head free.* Hey... what are you doing? AKU?!?! Stop. I was only playing around with the fire thing.

*with a flick of his tongue he takes in your chest pushing your head into his throat* Hmmm? *he says around your kicking body*

*Indeed, his body continues to squirm around, his legs kicking out as the tongue draws his chest into the foul muzzle, lapping against the tasty flavors. His cries become muffled whimpers as his face and head are stuffed into your muscular throat, silencing his attempts to talk his way out of this.*

*then with a massive gulp he takes in your body just leaving some rat paws hanging from his muzzle as he smiles around them giggling*

*The plump, juicy rat fills your gullet nicely; his soft, downward angled fur slipping nicely down your throat as you gulp him down. His long, slender toes wriggle about as they remain sticking out from the sides of your jaws, looking almost comical to any onlookers. His succulent flavors continue to wash over your tongue as the last of his body slides across it.*

*then with a quick gulp the rat slides deep within the hyena* Well... . looks like i was right.. .. . Ummm... i don't remember what we were arguing about... .. *climbs back into his burning pot*

*Squirms around in the slimy belly as he's completely gulped down.* Stupid hyena. We weren't arguing about anything. We were just playing around. *Grumbles and settles down in the stomach, feeling the heat of the water from the pot warming up they hyena, and thus him as well.*

-stares- wow, this is so cute! one looks like its smiling, and the other looks like he's laughing! people who are afraid of bats should see this photo; maybe they'll think differently

But moreso than being appreciative of that, I'm just glad that you enjoy the picture. That's why I'm sharing them, so that others might enjoy them as well.
Heh. But you're right. The expressions on these two bats seem to belie everything that people might think about a vampire bat. They are not evil monsters, if people merely took the time to appreciate them. Besides, they're so freakin' cute. How could anyone hate them?

The name, I'm sure. And then there are the stories of bats flying into people's hair and getting tangled up in there. Plus, people probably don't like the idea of something flying around their heads at night that they can't see, but knows where they are. People seem to act as if hundreds of people are being killed each year by bats.
