Description
This lovely girl was commissioned by someone on the MLP Arena. I was a little sad to see her go, but her new owner really loves how she turned out so that makes me happy.Blah blah blah painted with acrylics and rehaired with Dollyhair's Virgin Snow & Sour Grapes. This time I sealed her with Testor's Dullcote instead of the Mod Podge, and colour me impressed! I got the smoothest, satiny finish ever and it didn't dull any of the colours
That stuff rules!

What kind of brush do you use for those STUNNING eyes?? I'm just starting out with customs and even my smallest brush gets sloppy.

I use the smallest round brush that they sell at Michael's, and water down my paint a little bit so it flows more like ink. If you want your bristles to stay nice and pointed, make sure paint never touches the metal part or dries onto the brush.
I keep a baby food lid filled with water and rest the brush on a slightly raised object. That way, the bristles stay wet but aren't smashed into the bottom of the lid. Hope this helps!

Ah, so that was my problem. lol. I had a pony get messed up cuz I sprayed it to close. Btw, do you have a white pegasus I could buy off you? I need it for a custom, and I've looked at like 5 places with no luck.

sorry for interrupting, but blossomforth is also a white Pegasus in stores that is much better distributed than diamond rose. ;o well, I see her all the time where I live anyways. x)

Lucky! She's from two waves ago and near-impossible to find anymore! My only issue with her though is her eye shape. She has those shy Fluttershy eyes and they're a bit harder to adapt to than Diamond Rose's neutral, round ones.

Yea, I haven't seen Diamond Rose at all around here, only little Blossom. My Target is weird too with fashion styles as well, all they have is a swarm of Fluttershys and Twilight Sparkles, and my Walmart is flooded with Rainbow Dash, I can never find fashion style Aj or Pinkie. ._.

News at the Toy Fair confirms that all of the Fashion Styles are being rereleased this fall, so I wouldn't worry. There are already in-box pics of Luna and Celestia floating around. :3

I do have Fashion Style Princess Luna and Pinklestia. At one point, I was considering turning Pinklestia into Fashion Style Princess Cadence, not sure if I should tackle -that- as my first custom though. ._.

Ah~ Shining Armor looks decent. xD ..Cadence is a bit..off, though, not expecting her to be full blown accurate. xD The ~completely~ purple wings look a bit odd. ._.
Or I may turn her into Queen Chrysalis or something if I ever decide to make customs, though I'm still not very sure on painting a pony, and I don't want to turn them into some mess with weird paint strokes everywhere. D:

Well, Hasbro didn't bother with sculpting on Shining Armor, obviously XD You could do a Fashion Style with her colour scheme just for fun and practice. Rehairing is pretty simple believe it or not, it's just time consuming.

I don't mind questions. Ask away! As for the brush strokes, I find it helps to thin the paint down with water and do several light coats.

Yeah, I talked to the commissioner, and she said she'd rather have closed wings anyhow, so, I'm gonna sculpt em. I finally found a rarity today, but it took 2 walmarts, 2 targets and a tru to find it. But, pinkie pie is EVERYwhere. Along with twilight. :/ I might have to go back and pick up a few more raritys cuz they had a ton.

testors lacquer is quite the stuff! i use the One Coat Wet myself to make them shiny. i love testors haha.
