Description
A scene of Kirby, in the Wing abillity, chasing Metaknight’s superior air-battleship, the Halberd, on foot with his helper, Parasol Waddle Dee, after getting blown into the ocean below.I’ve always been a fan of the Kirby series as well as Sonic series. In which, the Kirby games that is truly impressive is the Kirby Super Star, which I’ve recently returned to playing its remake on the DS (That I’ve finished 100% very long ago.
Noting that, those parallel lines pattern on the sky are not from Halberd’s jet turbine. They are already there on the sky for unknown reason. Well, Dreamland’s quite a unique place, what can I say?
Colored in SAI paint tool, and minorly edited in Photoshop CS3
Done in roughly 5 hours

Thank you very much for your critique. I’m pleased to know that the picture delivers the feel of Kirby Universe correctly through the coloring and the outlines. The piece was done meanwhile having my DS on playing and listening to the music of the level, which was very inspiring.
As for the choice of his ability, the first sketch was meant to be jet, not wing, but as I played through the stage, I realized that there was none of that ability available, so I went for what Kirby encounters first in that level, Birdon, who carries wing ability. I’m very glad that it works out well as well.
Thank you for pointing those issues out. I can now see that Waddle Dee’s stand is oddly higher than Kirby’s, and that the shadings on the Parasol makes the Parasol look dented and out of shape. I will be more cautious about the details for later works.
And again, thank you very much, I’m very grateful of your thoughtful critique and your concern for the details of the piece.

Next to Shy Guy's Perplex Express, the Halberd HAS to be one of my FAVORITE Nintendo vehicles.
I mean, like the huge ginormous vehicles, not like, Mario Karts and Warpstars. Those are a different subcategory.

Ahhhhh, Revenge of metaknight. Something ive noticed is that the halberds design changed between Kirby super star and super star ultra, I guess Metaknight fixed up more then just the ship, he used a new look altogether!

Yes. The Halberd model for Super Star Ultra was the same one used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And I really like this new look.^^

O_o KAABII! *Slapped*
I can honestly say this looks amazing. The coloring is spot-on, pretty much flawless; if I`m gonna say, it even looks like it could be official artwork.
Too bad it`s not, though.
But yes, veeery nicely done. Your coloring always looks so neat.

Thank you so much! It's ~Fushidane 's artworks that's been inspiring me throughout all these years, since long before I joined dA. Yet I have only 2 pictures containing Kirby in my gallery.

Ah, I am so far behind when it comes to Kirby games. I haven't played any since the old black & green Gameboy times.

The game can seem pretty easy at first, but it turns more and more challenging as you progress. And it's very cute! x3

Cute games that are challenging? Alright!
But I bet the USA version of the boxart has Kirby making a mean face with a dark background. They're bad for doing that.

Really?! All the boxarts I see in my country for the Kirby Super Star Ultra has a large cheerful Kirby on it, and many helpers below.

I haven't looked at the Super Star Ultra boxart, however, I can show you examples of what I mean by the US boxart making Kirby look mean.

I've never noticed this before! What's the reason behind all this mean face boxart?
I believe that for the Super Star Ultra, the art'd look the original, since the whole theme is cheerful, and Kirby's not fighting anyone.

Powerwing-Amber In reply to PsuC [2010-04-10 08:50:32 +0000 UTC]
My guess is, if Kirby looks mean, it'll sell better in America. Older kids, namely guys, will buy the games instead of just little kids and girls, perhaps. I think it's just silly.
I'll laugh if they give Kirby the "angry eyebrows" for the SSU boxart.
